I recently read a book about the Wright brothers. Many of their letters have been saved. Reminder first power flight was 1903. I found it interesting and amusing. Background, there were many people, in different countries trying to achieve powered flight. Some of them were wealthy playboys. Some had long family histories and titles, The Wright brothers complained about the press. People writing about things they did not understand and other reporters copying that misinformation. They also complained about national bias by foreign press. So much of what we complain about is not at all new. |

How did we ever survive that stuff? Global warming? When, I was a kid we had snow up to my chest. I have proof. I was 3 or 4 feet tall. We cannot, we do not want to go back. A car? Must have air conditioning-it was rare when we were kids. Automatic transmission-most cars were standard, manual shift. Wipers ran off engine vacuum and would slow down or stop at lights. THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS. |

Personally, I think having to have two (or more) wage earners today is very common and very stressful. I have no recommendations on how to fix that, but, I think the BIG change is that after the depression people worked hard to ensure their children had a better life than they did. Then slowly just keeping up require two wages earners. That much stress - how to feed my family, how to pay for my children medicine, etc, etc, leads to depression and anxiety and that leads to anger and violence. These used to be a saying, war can only occur in a country where the people feel they have nothing left to lose. We are approaching a minority feeling they have nothing left to lose. |
i don't mind what people say or think . the issue is when they get here from NY or NJ or California, they forget why they left and bring that crap with them wise up, remember why you left!!!

Growing up in S. Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) I recall signs in restaurants that said, "We charge $5.00 to listen to how good it was where you came from"... |
Yep and that is why I bought a house with a fenced in yard so I won't get yelled at when my dog pees outdoors on someones lawn (launch the missiles!) as animals are want to do!

You can't blame it on the internet either - it's been around since the 1980's. Social media actually predates the world wide web; the first dial-up bulletin board system went online in 1978. Can't blame cable TV - that's been around since 1948 and was common in the 1980's. I blame it on people who insist that something other than their own personal responsibility is the cause of it. You are responsible for the information you choose to absorb. There's nothing stopping any of us from checking sources, asking questions, challenging beliefs. If you don't do these things, then that is your choice - but it's also your choice to deprive yourself of knowledge, and you have no one to blame but yourself when you discover that other people might have different opinions based on different information that they've acquired. |
Because some people want to impose their opinions and beliefs on others.

More or less there are just some out there that are WAY too sensitive and feelings get hurt way too easy. I would think that would be more of the younger crowd but there are some seasoned folks out here that get "hurt" way too easy. "Sticks & Stones" (you know the rest.
