Gracie -- everyone is thrilled beyond words with your good news.

One of our neighbors four houses down from us, came down yesterday while Henry was working in the front yard and said she thought she saw a cat, a big black cat in her bushes behind her home. Henry, not wanting to disappoint, went down there alone and looked and looked but didn't spot him. Other neighbors came to help and Helene saw them and joined them. Our friend Donna saw him under a bush and grabbed him. Helene screamed with happiness, Henry said.

I heard a shout and Helene yelling, Mom, Mom we found him, Hershey's home. Henry was carrying him and I immediately thought he'd be hungry or thirsty, but he wasn't. AND he didn't look harmed, and didn't feel like he'd lost weight. But he kept looking at us and meowing and meowing and meowing. I swear it seemed like he was trying to tell us something. All of us had something in our eyes...even the big old dad.

It was like a huge weight lifted off all of us. We couldn't stop hugging each other and kissing that silly cat. Eleven years is a long time to share space with a furry friend and seven days worrying and wondering what happened to him seemed much longer than a week.....We are so glad he is home... and we are all just so happy.

Again, all of us thank you for keeping our hopes up. You are a great bunch of fine people and caring friends.

That is a great story. I'm so happy for you all. And now, looking ahead, you will be able to use that story to comfort the next person whose feline escape artist takes off. And that's great too!

I had a friend who lost her kitty for a very long FOURTEEN MONTHS! One night long after she'd given up hope she was emptying her trash and heard this faint meowing coming from her back yard. She tracked it down to a very thin, frail, but happy to be home Velvet. I am so glad Hershey decided a week was long enough. I'm sure those meows meant, "I'm home! I'm home! Boy, I missed you guys!"

What was a horrible experience filled with sadness has turned into much happiness.

Just think -- you will be telling this Hershey story for the rest of your life, but now, with smiles and laughter.

Ahhhh . . . if only the walls could talk!

Now looking back. I think a trap would have brought the boy home fast.
I trapped a few coons and possums and they were easy to get.
I might just go buy a loaner trap for the next episode of lost cat..
