It is a travesty that Sumter County hasn’t received more vaccines. I blame it on incompetent officials who allowed it to happen. In my opinion, they should be removed.

The GMR group of people, me included, will be going to the Wildwood Community Center on Powell Road with vaccines administered by Sumter County. I'm waiting to be notified that my 2nd shot appointment is going to be kept on the same date or another date.

My wife and I were vaccinated at the Orlando Health hospital. They have online appointments for at least a half dozen of their hospitals.

As of Jan 22, 20% of Floridians over the age of 65 have received at least one vaccine. In Sumter county that number is 15.6%. In Lake county it is 24.6%.

Then anti-kudos to those that have not brought the vaccines to TV Land. Can you say DPA?

Agree; Orlando is certainly worth the trip to get vaccinated. But how do you get an appointment? Each site I try says "Booked" or "no appointments available" etc. So no luck.

Herd immunity takes about 85% vaccination. If the anti-vaxxers make up 30% of the US population or even in 3rd world countries, then the CV continues on about its merry, deadly, mutating life.

That is too optimistic of a prediction in my opinion. I hope by the end of the year, but there are MANY factors that could go wrong.

A total of 1,328,175 people have been vaccinated.

Since the population of those 16+ years is 17,724,748, that translates into 1 in every 13 people 16 or older who have been vaccinated with at least the first dose.

Since the population of those 16+ years is 124,023, that translates into 1 in every 10 people 16 or older who have been vaccinated with at least the first dose.

Where do you get your info? There are about 310 million US residents. When the JNJ vaccine gets approved and at the moment it looks good, they will produce one BILLION doses by year end. They have been manufacturing vaccine since before their trial data was even finished as their confidence in the technology they used is extremely high. Couple that with Pfizer and Moderna and others coming on line by summer there will be more than enough for the US and other countries. The issue currently is just what are the hospitals, etc. doing with doses that have been unfrozen but no recipients. Data shows in excess of 25 million doses shipped, only a bit over half have been utilized.
