They have more than enough land to do a proper gun range. I have belonged to several gun clubs in Ohio and they all had way less land than TV has. It just takes management and common sense.

I just watched part of Rusty’s video about the movie The Bubble. In the first 10 minutes they show people shooting handguns at an outdoor range. Is there one in The Villages? I don’t mean the Airgun Ranges. These were firearms. Thanks in advance.

Some of us belong to the Home | Eustis Gun Club It is about 30 miles by car South of The Villages. I have belonged for about six years. Always a Range Safety Officer on duty. Check it out at their website.

Thanks, I do belong to the Airgun Club but don't use that range.

Its interesting, my recollection (watched it a while back) is that they implied the range was in TV. Fits their narrative better, I suppose.

Up North, the DNR had an outdoor range, free to use, easy access.

Been looking for one down here.................no luck.

Will continue watching thread.

The range in the Ocala Forest is pretty easy to find. If you are coming from Silver Springs, get on State Rt 40 heading East, and (I'm guessing) in about 5-10 miles you will see an old fire tower on your right, just 50 yards from the road. On the left you will see an access road, and the range is about a half mile down that road, on the right side. There is a small sign with a shooting range sign just a few hundred yards short of the fire tower. The range is very nice, first come, first served, and as another poster noted, it can get really busy at times. They were closing for cleaning on Wednesday mornings, but I can't confirm that now, as I haven't been shooting for about a year now (ammo too expensive).

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a picture of the Ocala range from the firing line. I can’t find anything on line. Thanks

I’m sorry, but I meant the Ocala National Forest range. I have been to the other club and don’t want to join. Thanks

Keep in mind there is no RO at the Ocala National Forest range.
The last time I was there a family was teaching the 12-14-year-olds to shoot Dads AR.
Gun/range safety protocols were a little sketchy.
Keep your head on a swivel.

I understand, that can be a problem. I used to shoot at a state run range in Punta Gorda, and a lot of young macho guys would show up and do AR mag dumps, one right after the other. Maybe I need a new hobby.

There's one in Dade City. North end, where Lock Street meets US 301.

I'm curious about your aversion to joining a club. I belong to the Eustis Gun Club and am quite satisfied with what the facility has to offer. There are usually two people running herd over the shooters at the range. They periodically walk or ride by the firing lines watching for safety violations, but if you are concentrating on shooting, you never notice them.

The shooters are self regulating and it provides for a safe shooting area. In most cases a fellow shooter will caution you if you violate a range safety rule, but it is most often done in a respectful manner.

Personally, I want nothing to do with a public range where there no range safety officers to correct or order off the range shooters that are being a danger to other people.
