Default Painting Kitchen Cabinets

We are in the process of doing major work in the kitchen and wanted to know if anyone had any luck with having their kitchen cabinets painted versus a complete tear down and new cabinets. If you have a vendor that you could recommend I would appreciate having them look at our job, thanks, John[

Default We painted our kitchen cabinets many years ago

Painting the cabinets is a much cheaper solution than replacement. If they are in good condition you could have them painted to your choice for a tiny percentage of the cost of replacements. Our cabinets have continued to look good for several years after a repainting.

Steve’s On-site. (352) 603-6402
Meticulous. Great attention to detail and priced right. We researched quite a few companies and he was highly recommended. You can see ours in Dunedin

Nice to know, did you do it yourself or with a contractor? Thanks

I'd love to have this done as well but wondered at the cost of it. I've seen several folks who had it done but they couldn't remember how much. We live in a Cottage series so there aren't a lot of cabinets.

You also can consider new doors and drawer fronts, then paint cabinets, 5 coats including primer, doors profile can then be updated as you like. (Did this up north)

An alternative approach for sure but I believe this may be more expensive than professional spray painting the doors offsite and cabinets at my home.

This is not a particularly difficult job if you feel comfortable on a step ladder. Clean existing finish first, then prime and paint to your satisfaction. I have done a lot of painting for many years and after using just about everybody's brand I find the Behr (Home Depot) is just as good as any and better than several more expensive brands. Our cabinets are a light shade of cream and still look very nice and clean easily when needed.

We painted ours.. they were dark color and had scratches form prior owners. Now they are white and beautiful. It really brightened up
the kitchen and baths. Total cost was $4500 and it took about 10-14 days start to finish.

You mentioned they were painted at a cost of $4500, were the doors removed and spray coated or was everything done hand painted? How many coats, any special finish coat? Thanks for the information

All the doors were removed and taken to his shop where they were sanded, primed and painted two coats. The frames were done the same on sight of course. They turned out great.
