You can still use the Walmart delivery service if you check your phone early in the morning. I checked mine Sunday morning around 7am and was able to check out and schedule delivery for Tuesday evening. If you wait too late in the day, all of the time slots will be gone. Have a great day!

I chuckled when someone told me about going to Publix here early in the morning for the senior hour. Pretty much nothing but seniors here; hence expect long lines. I suggested to head 20 minutes out of The Villages where you would be a minority.

We're all seniors here! ...
Hence: Huge crowds at opening hours for seniors...... Hoarding is the problem.

Soooooooo.....what is different in that first hour than the rest of the day?

NOTHING!!!!!

Common sense in absence once more.

The decision making to have "senior hour" was not based on TV bubble.....it was for all the non bubble stores.

Most likely the Snowbirds are stocking up before they had for home since most left their summer homes empty before they came here. Knowing they will have the same shortages at home. Our grocery stores are not set up for this kind of hysteria ( should they have a plan for the future? I would think so

Villagesgal 03-25-2020 09:01 AM

Grocery store is not a public place

Technically as long as you're doing it in public, it's legal. There exists such a thing as "expectation of privacy." You have none of that in public spaces.

Privately owned premises are not considered a public place. Parks and publicly owned streets or the like are truly public places and there you can video without permission, not in a privately owned business, or privately owned land.

greenflash245 03-25-2020 09:01 AM

that is not true.

So true! Why the run on toilet paper? This particular virus doesn't give you the green apple "quick step". I saw a humorous posting on Facebook last week - In 2050 their kid opened the last pack of TP his parents purchased in 2020. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Media hype

Anything to create hysteria. Notice they don't point out the recovery rate for those that have come down with the Wuhan Flu.

Hi.. I keep reading about the hoarding going on in The Villages because the snow birds are headed back and want to be sure they have supplies once back hone. Well I didn’t go o The Villages this year but her at home just outside of Boston the shelves are stocked at Market Basket... running a little low on produce... but even that they were replacing. Yes there are senior hours but that wasn’t when I shopped - just want to say for those headed back North there are supplies. ;) good health to all!

The recovery rate for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) it is between 97% and 99%.
Depending on the calculation method used.

That's what I was thinking. Senior privilege is not much of a privilege when everyone has it. Plus all that happens is old people are stacked up violating the social distancing rules.

I'm not going anywhere for the time being.

The more people that recover, the more people that have immunity. If enough people have immunity, that would certainly help to control this virus.

Walk down the line with your phone set to record a video of the crowd.

Upload to facebook / youtube. :bigbow:

Do as they do in Sweden.

Example would be

Buy 1 package of toilet paper for 5 dollars
Buy additional packages for 95 dollars each
