I haven't ever heard that or seen it. I don't know of any issues with disability that would allow this bending of the rules. I could be wrong. I know of no disabled people living here under 19. Young people need their peers too.

Ive seen or heard about several full time residents who are minor children. Whats the big deal? The parents dont need to be limited on where they can reside when they are 55+ and still take care of minor disabled children.

I just reread your post and hope your daughter is at least 19. People must be 19 to live here full time.

Helene enjoys Ceramics, Diamond Painting, Adult coloring, painting and jewelry making at Laurel Manor Regional Rec Center along with me. She also has many, many friends that are my friends as well who are Villagers. (I strongly suspect they put up with me because she is so charming and kind and articulate.) Helene swims and walks for exercise and reminds her father and I to take our pills and exercise more. Helene is kind of ordinary. She is our treasure.

God bless you. Nice to hear rather than the usual complaining

You learn something new every day. I stand corrected. Delighted to be corrected. I hope all of our young friends bring joy to all of us.

I have a legally blind, along with multiple disabilities, she is now 47. We are from Boston and lived in Maine for several years. Maine rolled out the red carpet. Sheltered workshop transportation, parties. We were expecting the same in Florida.., NO WAY...Florida is by far one of the worst states for support for handicap children. One official told my wife and i that if anything happened the state would take her in for 72 hours and then release her to the street. She cant reat, write or tie her shoes. I wish you the BEST OF LUCK just trust in the lord. We went through this in 2004.

there's this really cool young man who lives here with his mom, & has been here for years he says. he is wheelchair bound, but VERY active & friendly. we sat with him one night in brownwood, & he explained how he can get from his home in laurel manor all the way to sumter sq & brownwood in only his chair! what a guy! you may have seen him about as he is social on a daily basis. a major inspiration-he is so good & loveable, you will know when you meet him.:coolsmiley:
