3. I read on the tickets website that the area reserved for dancing will be blocked off. Why not let people put their chairs there?

I looked all over the ticket website and did not see this information.

I did see that there will be a fence around the entire square, with a single entry/exit point. It is the way they will control entry to the square to ticket holders only. Once you are in, you can set up your chair, and dance if you like.

If someone is walking on the sidewalk (which is what they are for I assume - hence the name) carrying chairs to get to the entrance to the square, to enjoy the entertainment, I would assume that no one would be selfish enough to make me divert into the street, in traffic, to get around them. Maybe they shouldn't need to stop it....just suggesting.

I guess anything is possible now that I've reached senior age, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that the dance area would be blocked off. I apologize if this is incorrect.

:) Paul I am sorry to say you may be wrong on that one. Selfish is the middle name of some. I've seen it many times. I've had it happen to me. You certainly can walk on the side walk. They don't want people sitting or standing there not because they will slow you down..... I would think it's about controlling the SIZE of the crowd.

In the 4 page insert that was in the Daily Sun on Thursday is a ton of information. The best part was the small print little disclaimer at the very bottom of page one. If everyone would read it and follow it along with the rules this would work a lot better. As for the rules..... they list several under the heading -

"Know before you go - For your safety we've made a few changes..." None of this should be difficult IMHO.

If someone can't understand I would think they need to consider asking for a refund of their tuition.

Go... Follow the rules... Enjoy... Be safe... :ho:

Are the passes for residents only?

1. The title of this thread is - "passes for the squares"
2. Entertainment Dept. Web Site states you can get passes for the squares 7 days in advance of the date wanted.
3. You state May's shows are not available. Are you really trying to get tickets to the squares for May 2021..... 8 months from now?

:icon_wink: What's wrong with this picture?

I believe it was a typo. He meant "many" shows are not availabe.

NEVER MIND... I WAS A DAY EARLY

Can’t wait to see how attendance at the squares will be monitored. Would bet than anyone who wants to get in will get in.

I went to the ticket office. No line went at 11:00

Here is a question I haven’t seen debated yet. This applies more to SS and LSL. Will we be able to park and set in our golf carts to listen to the music?

I would hope not. The squares are not owned by The Villages residents (although some think they are).
I would think if you have access to the website or if you stand in line you can buy tickets. At least I hope that's true.

My understanding is that the tickets are free but limited to the number of people they choose to allow. Getting them is a pain, and you may need to show your ID card. I’m not sure. It may help to restrict the number of people there who don’t live in The Villages. Let’s hope that by next summer we all have been vaccinated and the squares will be back to business as usual.

No ID needed, the entertainment is partially paid for with tax dollars and the square is public

So they say that "standing and sitting on the sidewalks" will not be allowed. Gonna be fun to see how they try to enforce that.

it DOESN'T say SIDEWALKS, it says sidewalls. There is a big difference.

If the area for dancing was not blocked off there would be no room for dancing THATS WHY YOU CANNOT SIT THERE.

Sorry. I interpreted it to mean the dance area would be blocked off to everyone, sitters and dancers alike. I could understand making it off limits to dancers as social distancing will be nearly impossible. So if dancers were blocked out, why not allow people to put chairs there?

But it’s moot. Dancers there and chairs not there.
