Default Permanent golf cart crossing on 441/27

I read yesterday that the mayor of Lady Lake was proposing a permanent cart crossing on 441. I have been away from the board for a while, but it was a pretty hot topic previously about not wanting outside communities to have the ability to use golf cart access to TV. I realize there were some problems because of Irma, but that was a once in 150 year problem. I can't find any comments on TOTV about this, but the Villages online newspaper poll had overwhelming support for the crossing. But I can't imagine that other than Stone Crestors and possibly some people from Historic Side might be in favor of it, that it would get much support from the Villages. Have I overlooked the discussion on here?

I would call the bridge a permanent cart crossing.

Doesn’t the Mayor live in the Historic section? Maybe it’s easier for some to cross there than over the bridge? Could be the Mayor is more aware of the needs of those who live in his community.

IMHO he's not the first ill informed politician and won't be the last.

How would a golf cart operator get access to that crossing and enter the Villages??

Last time I looked, 3 of the 5 Lady Lake town council members lived in the Lake County (Lady Lake) area of TV.

Fruitland Park and Wildwood town councils will be or already are controlled by TV residents.

I don't understand the uproar about Stonecresters. There is a gate that replaced "the wall" that they would still have to come through. If they somehow got a gate card, they can get in anyway.
Can someone explain what route they would take that would bypass that gate?

The other 2 commissioners expressed reservations about the idea.

You are correct! The only way to access that crossing would be from The Villages.

The mayor is overstepping. He thinks Lady Lake can approve this action, but since it involves crossing a federal highway, FDOT must approve. The last approval took 19 months and did not involve The Villages. Remember, Morsepower is much more powerful than horsepower.

he's talking about the intersection just north of the bridge.
