Exactly why is this a big deal?

Well, when you’re ready to pay the thousands of dollars I spend annually on fertilizing, irrigation, moving and weeding my lawn, we can talk about your dog.

Man, or lady, you’re in for a storm with this post. If you’re in a neighborhood with fenced yards in in a pet zone. I have a neighbor who yells at anyone even walking on their grass. Personally I encourage dog walkers to use the side corner and as long as they pickup and they do, who cares

Many care! You only get to say what is acceptable for you and your property, not for your neighbors. Your neighbor who yells has every justification for yelling at trespassers, with or without pets.

Another miserable Villagers rambling on, that's why I barely ever look at this useless forum. Thanks for confirming why I can't stand it.

Unnecessary if you keep to the sidewalk or street and [Bdo not trespass[/B] onto the lawn. NO EXCUSE for trespassing are acceptable. If it is too hot, stay home. If it is raining, you stay home. If it is a lovely day, walk with a purpose. Exercise! Keep dog focused. Don't let him/her/it go nose down to sniff. Keep head high on a short leash and following the alpha, you, I hope.

Love Animals! Do not like Pet ( Village ) Owners !

I don’t care if they go or don’t go on lawn, but I walk my sisters dog Sammy in Boston all the time and I don’t think he’s ever gone on grass very much and neither have his friends, he’s 15 and it hasn’t bothered him , so why not let them go on pavement and it’s easier to pick up ?

Peeing on zoysia

I don’t need to sit and watch, I can see the pre spots in my zoysia a few days later.

I live in a CYV with two dogs. Our dogs don’t pee in the front yard and we let them pee in back before they go for walks

We never let our dogs walk in someone else’s yard. After we get out of the villa areas there are public areas that the dogs can use, if necessary.

Is there a problem in the beautiful Villages if someone wants their yard to look nice?

I, for one, don't wait for them. But, being somewhat limited, I enjoy looking out and enjoying what I can. The dog walkers just appear, wandering slooowly along, trying to get "Phydoux" to find a scent that will trigger him/her to dump. People, unless they have some weird fetish, generally don't enjoy watching animals defecate or urinate.

I have a CYV and my dogs are out there at various times of day, doing what they do and when we go on a walk, it’s not going to stop them from sniffing and peeing/pooping in a yard if they need to. Thankfully, my neighborhood is pet friendly and you live somewhere else. TV is full of not only dogs but plenty of wildlife. Nobody asked you to move here and if you hate it leave.

I love dogs and cats but he/she is correct. Just because I hate dog pee/poop in my yard has no bearing on my feelings about them…just their owners.

You obviously know very little about the subject. Dogs typically urinate as soon as they are outside if they need to. It will occur on the owners property. After the initial urination, while walking, the animal will stop and mark the territory with droplets. No harm to plants or grass. I’m fine with this. Regarding “pooping”, there’s no way to know when a dog will poop. A good owner bags it in totality and moved on. If they don’t, then I have a problem with them. No way would I use a dog park. I’ve seen too many dogs ignored as they become aggressive towards other dogs. Do the other dogs have their required shots? To walk on the MMP’s I still have to walk thru my neighborhood to get there. Like all things, there are considerate owners and the opposite. If I see a small sign in a yard asking me not to let my dog near their perfect landscaping (in the owners mind), I make sure to move past the yard as asked. Done for now!

Signs are not allowed. If you can move past one house, why not two, or even twenty or more. Dogs, like the wolves they came from, can hold "it" if they are on a mission, like a hunt. That is why if the owner focuses on the exercise aspect of walking and conveys this by keeping the dog on a short leash, head up, not nose down, dog will hold "it" until the mission (the walk) is over.

New people come to TV, and they don’t know how to behave so the issue comes up over and over again. If selling a house depended on people being considerate, I bet, we would not have another dog poop thread.

If they can’t sniff, they won’t go. It’s as simple as that.

As simple as that! Thank you!
