Best Picnic Area

There is a nice picnic area on the Buena Vista cart trail just north of the bridge over Lake Sumter Landing and south of 466.

Boone Park. Corner of Kim Lane and Silver Oaks. Gazebo on pond with BBQ grill. Very quiet. I never see anyone using it.

1. What is your best location for a romantic/ scenic picnic in the Villages north of 466, accessible by either car or golf cart? My first high school crush coming for a visit.

2. Best take-out picnickable [sic] hot or cold food in the area to bring? (For example: I am partial to Walmart's Amish macaroni salad.) Any royal suggestions for: Wings, shrimp rolls, mini crab cakes, excetera excetera excetera?

At sunset right across the street of Lopez Country Club, beautiful sunset, nice grass area and you can take out from Legacy

Best be careful your spouse is otherwise occupied, or it could get messy. LOL

Paradise Rec

There is a pretty dock behind Paradise Rec Center. The end of the dock is covered and has two picnic tables. During the shutdown, we would play golf with another couple, then take a picnic lunch to the pier afterwards. It was very private and "safe". I think it would be lovely for your "quiet" picnic!

That is a very nice area. Was hanging out there one day and watched an eagle swoop down and snag a little duck from the pond. There is also a boardwalk that goes out to a small gazebo type area over the pond that is accessible from the Paradise Rec. center. It looks across the pond to the Hilltop executive golf course.

Nothing says romance like an eagle eating a baby duck right in front of your eyes! Gets me in the mood!

You rascal, be sure to report back and tell us how it went.

Agree with all the posts about the locations on the historic side ...that's where I live and it's wonderful ...quiet/ great views/ big live oaks /ponds.

My wife like my chicken waldorf salad - cooked bite sized chicken pieces - red and green grapes halved - chopped celery - chopped apples, handful of dried cranberries - large handful of walnuts all wrapped in a light coating of mayo !!! YUM !!

In high school we did not know or care.

High school flame? I was in high school 53 years ago. You haven't aged a bit since high school. What did you say? I left my hearing aids at home.

We do “to go” from Applebee’s and go to Paradise Park on the Historic side.

Same question, south of 466? Any good areas to picnic?
