SO NOT TRUE....read John Rohans response to this garbage.

It's true

So under certain circumstances $80 passes are available to persons not living in The Villages!! Where are the wise guys now who made fools of themselves denying such a thing existed and making fun of the question. They are the same ones who are hiding under a rock, will try to pretend they were joking or don't admit to being part of the crowd that should be denied access to TOTV. I believe some responses to this question represent some major violators of the basic rule of intent to actually respond to a member's question and there should be consequences!.:ohdear:

It has probably been going on for a very long time. People involved in printing and issuing passes have always had access to them and can give them away to family and friends or sell them. This is happening at golf courses too. Have you heard the story that a guy forgot his ID and the starter told him to go home and get it and he could start as soon as he returned. Man accidently replied "That's a 50 mile round trip." Another incident involved someone from outside The Villages using a dead Villagers ID. How can it be stopped?

Very hard to believe that those issuing passes are so dishonest. This is a very serious accusation……..you have proof?

It is $80 a year. I know someone who has one, but I don’t think they are supposed to use the sports pool.

I probably missed it but, reading all the pass info I could not find where a fee of $80 applied?

That’s not the way it was posted

it’s a very limited amount of people with relatives in the immediate area it’s no secret it been going on for as long as I’ve been here and had nothing to do with apartment people as for the illegal sales where there is a willing buyer there are always sellers

A number of residents will not use this great communication instrument because as they say there are a set of "bullies" who pride themselves in their actions to make fun of the users . You know who they are! They are the ones who keep watch on the material in TOTV and strike at users to discredit them and their questions. The unfortunate part of this is that some good questions or advice go unasked to avoid that group. Maybe if on the first clear attempts to disrupt participation in TOTV results in that person being denied access. It would be greater to have less participation in the posts and more positive participants than more bully participants and less meaningful interchanges of ideas and questions. We have used TOTV for many years and this has
been getting worse as times go on and the bullies grow as a larger group of the total. Since there are no controls for this group and no consequences their interference and behavior will continue to grow out of proportion to the total positive users. :ohdear:

I could not agree more, too many here hide behind 'humor' or 'sarcasm' to make seriously demeaning posts about anyone and everyone, just because they can. Childish really, probably parents of younger social media bullies never teaching them common courtesies and truisms like, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". I don't like shutting down free speech, but perhaps setting up a 'free for all' TOTV forum where anything goes would draw these mean-spirited posters away so the rest of us can converse civilly, just a thought. (flame suit on)

Yes let’s shut down all the humor , sarcasm and the little arguments that sometimes pop up, let’s just have dog poop question , where can I get jam like they make at home or anyone have any extra boxes , the site would disappear very quickly

I found this that said that immediate family of a resident can be issued guest passes for the length of one year if they live in Marion, Sumter or Lake County. Nothing was said at all about a fee for this that I can find.

I no longer can hear on the phone very well. Will you call the number for the recreation department please and talk to John Rohan's office and ask him or whoever answers for him about the eighty dollars? I can find no mention of money for passes. I will get you the number for John Rohan. Be right back.

Here it is;

Obviously not valid. The villages is about selling homes. If they sold passes, their sales would go down and they would not have it!
As far as checking IDs I think ALL pools should have a swipe thing that opens the gate door.
