There is an article in the Feb 10 and another in the May 5 District Weekly Bulletin about Well Being Checks. If Community Watch sees two or more newspapers in a driveway they may initiate a Well Being Check (WBC) to check on the resident.

That happened to us a number of months ago. One paper was late and delivered like 6 PM which we didn't notice and the next paper the following morning at the usual 4AM. By 7AM we got calls from Villages Watch (which we didn't answer because we didn't recognize the number) then calls from our neighbor across the street because VW went to them to see if they knew where we were. I had to call VW to tell them we were still alive. They confirmed the "2 papers in the driveway" for a WBC. Nice of them, but after "2 papers" (2 days) we'd likely be beyond help at that point. By that time it probably would have been easier just to do a sniff test. :D All kidding aside, a nice service provided by VW whether it would help or not after 2 days.
