I don't understand the concept of concentrated wealth. Is this a "Robin Hood" type of theory? Does this mean it's okay for the creeps to rip off someone with the appearance of the few extra bucks that they have invested in their homes? More than likely the people who own those homes worked like dogs for 40+ years and are now enjoying the fruits of their labors.

To me concentrated wealth means an area comprised largely of people well above the median income. Obviously anyone who lives in The Villages has a certain degree of wealth not found in other areas just around us. I think it is an easy concept to understand.
Check out a developing country. Appreciate what you have, enjoy it but protect it. |
If you are lucky enough to live in The Villages.
You are lucky enough. Eighty thousand to two million, the same lifestyle exactly and hardly anyone CARES. I know I don't. |
I was being facetious. It just seems that the implication posted indicates it's okay rip off someone who earn their present lifestyle.
|
I could not care less about anyone economic situation. You have whatever you have and I have whatever I have. In the end when you're dust, didn't mean anything
|
A lot of people who retired out of this state do not have an inkling of what Fl incomes are.
A retired school teach from NYC gets a bigger pension that a school principal makes here. So, when you display your assets and confide in your hair dresser--you're advertising to get ripped off. Don't tell any one when you're going out celebrate or you're talking a cruise. Be smart and learn how to shoot straight--most of us are to old to fight but we can still pull a trigger |
Seems like its more and more everyday, about the guns.........................
|
Police are always minutes away when seconds count
In Fl you don't need a permit to keep a firearm in your car Word to the wise |

I just want to be clear about this. I'm supposed to live in a falling down shack and ride around in a crummy car just so the bad guys ignore me? Does that really make sense?

To Village Tinker,
Thank you for posting your fix to prevent lifting out the sliders. It looks simple and effective. I plan to install it. |

No. You deserve all that you have earned. We honor your planning and efforts and feel better that we live in a country with second amendment rights. We see your success at living independently as a tribute to your hard work and saving and we respect your habits that allow you to drive a decent car and live in a comfortable home and pay large taxes so that others can have a home and a car and a phone and health insurance...and a gun. We all love you Skippy. I am SO sorry. Sometimes I just can't be good. |

Gracie - and we honor you. |

PS: update on my design, one neighbor had much less clearance then I had, so we figured that you can use ANGLE aluminum (either 1/16 or 1/8 inch) and Velcro in a similar manner. Hope this helps. |

Pick one: Why are police at the gates? The difference between burglary and robbery? Door-to-door soliciting? Local crime demographics? Alarm systems survey? Concealed weapons? DIY Burglar Proofing? Concentration of wealth? Gerry and the Pacemakers? Costume jewelry? Are we gated? Real estate licensing? Did I miss anything? |
Anything having to do with any of the above.
|
Thanks for the tip on the sliders. A good project to do tomorrow.

With all of the talk about security, I may get this golf cart for driving around the villages.

Police at gates
Excellent selection. Are they available in TV?

You're right, gracie. Sometimes you ain't good! |
"Concentrated Wealth" is all relative. Compared to most of our surrounding towns, we probably do appear wealthy.
HOWEVER, it's like running away from the lion. You don't need to be the fastest guy in the tribe as long as you stay ahead of the others! So, we become the targets for the envious, and those who ignore the threats become "lunch". Be prepared. |

and where are the people with guns when the crimes occur???
They are out and about. Where they should be. They have worked long and hard to have the life they have chosen. The cops will get these bad guys, they have before. But just remember this bad guys..... Don't mess with old people. |
