My support for law enforcement has not wavered in years. I've been stopped several times (justifiably) for traffic violations. Can't speak for others.

Probably. If you don't like laws, rules, being told to do something or following directions you are on that side. If you can handle it, don't feel it demeans you or encroaches on your freedom to stop completely at a stop sign, you are on this side.

There will always be people who don't think the rules are for them and they are the ones who usually get in trouble. Or they are the ones that cause trouble, even in smaller things, such as the pool exercisers. It is just a form of selfishness. Rules and laws are made for the safety and comfort and wellbeing of all. Police are the folks who stop you when you are breaking laws. Like I taught our children and my little ones in class, Policemen are our friends.

I hope I don't hear again that I am naïve.

If nothing else tragic happens to any LEO's in the near future, and I pray to God it doesn't, pretty soon, the deaths of these two officers will be a distant memory and someone that is straddling the line (pro law enforcement/anti law enforcement) will get a ticket and the bashing of Officer's will begin again. All the "line straddlers" love the Police until a ticket lands in their hands.

We bought our light at Walmart We always put a blue light out at Christmas to remember fallen officers. My husband is a retired police officer and some of his fellow officers were taken from us too soon.

I support cops who act lawfully, I don't blindly support any group who is in a position to abuse power, they need watchdogs because they are human.

:police: Well said GG, I agree.
Police officers are our friends, their job is often a thankless one, and they are deserving of respect.

For those whose sensibilities were offended by NYC police turning heir backs on de Blasio consider this:

Warren de blasio-Wilhelm born 5/8/61 of self avowed communist parents causing lead historian Ron Rodosh to describe him as a bona fide red diaper baby.

supporter and admirer of Marxist Sandinista Nicaragua in 1980

Toured communist Soviet Union 1983

Received Master's Degree International & Public Affairs Columbia 1984

Married lesbian activist Charlene McCray 1994

Honeymooned in Fidel Castro's Cuba

Campaigned for Hillary Clinton's Senate run 2000

Campaigned in 2009 to be NYC 3rd Public Advocate supported heavily by the pro communist worker Party family

elected to Mayor NYC with 72%

considered a potential Democratic candidate for vice president 2016

Here is a man who reaped the benefits of a free and open society and has clearly shown his contempt for it

Icing on this poisonious cake Al Sharpton.

New York voters made a major major mistake electing this guy

Like all Saul Alinsky alumni de blasio "picked his target"and "moved against it"

The problem is of course that de blasio never understood how police maintain order. He never even considered that before the broken windows policy and "stop and frisk" places like Times Square was a home to sex shops and robberies and murders were a daily occurrence as was the drug trade permeated the city.

The original topic was about how Villagers can show their support for law enforcement.

Many posts have veered deeply into political territory. If this continues the thread will be closed.

As I posted earlier and have done many times myself, pay forward something nice that happened to you and discreetly buy a meal for a Police Officer(s); it will really be appreciated.

Bizdoc 12-30-2014 08:41 PM

Whenever I encounter a local police officer, I make it a point to stop and thank them for keeping us safe.

Beyond that, I am not much for signs, lights, or such. If you want to do any of that, the oath I took when I joined the Coast Guard is still true - I will defend your constitutional right to free speech so long as it is within the bounds of the law. I do not have to agree with anyone's viewpoint to defend their right to free speech. However, know that violence is not free speech, nor is taking away the speech of others.
