I agree with you. This could become a security issue as well. Anyone could use that to break into a home. No soliciting means no one comes to your door. They can put their speech on paper & mail it to all residents.

Knocking on your door to promote a candidate or political party is not solicitation. You aren't being asked to BUY anything. Read the definition of the word "solicit"

I’m sorry small things can upset you so. Life is so short. Let it go.

What is the matter with you? Why are you even suggesting that a "strong Conservative Veteran" would even think that attacking someone for ringing your doorbell is in any way an appropriate response? I doubt the military taught you that ethic. Soldiers in war are held to a higher standard of how they treat the civilian population than that. Now explain to me please what action you feel is appropriate for you to employ on someone who rings your doorbell that will permanently cripple that solicitor. Please tell me that you don't have a gun as you clearly are not in control of your excessive anger and need help.

What a horrible comment. The answer is to close the door and not break a knee. There are many Veterans ("strong Conservative" and otherwise) that would not agree with that.

In its most basic definition, the word solicit means to ask for. For instance, a person can solicit a sale, a donation, a vote, or “a moment of your time”. In civil law, solicitation means any request or appeal for anything of value.Feb 1, 2019

Sumter County Supervisor of Elections > Home

If you want something to be proud of look how many registered voters we have in Sumter County. The population in Sumter County is about 130K.

Although it may be irritating, I think coming to your door like that is okay. If you have questions about a candidate or their candidate you have the person to answer those questions directly rather than listening to political pundits on TV.

Really?

I'll just stick with the known & legitimate media sources, who provide actual proof...of what they report.

Regardless of how limiting...facts can be.

If you don’t recognize the person, don’t answer the door!

Default Fake rules

In a humble but strong opinion... since there is NO law, rule, or practice in The Villages to stop solicitation, it is dishonest to put up any sign that states "No solicitation"... if the reason for putting up such a sign is to make the person feel you are backed by municipal or state law when you absolutely know you are not.

As for "fury", why give in to such a horrible emotion when it can really explode your blood pressure? Don't you like yourself and wish to live a healthful life? If the solicitation didn't stop over time, what would your next step be: murder? Life, I believe, is too precious to play silly games with such things. Peace out.

Political solicitor, door to door salesman or Jehovah's Witness, bid them good day and shut the door.
What's the big deal?
