Default Poll for a new a/c

Which do you think is better, MUNN's or SUNSHINE for a new unit, and why?

Don't rule out DiSantis in Wildwood. They offer Trane. We were pleased with their work and their price.

Called C.F., they only carry American Standard, I want a Carrier. The 2 I mentioned are Carrier dealers.

Carrier doesn't necessarily mean quality--go to consumer reports and check out all heat pumps

Just had Chuck Farrell out to do my annual check up this am.
My appointment was for 9:45am, and the service tech rang our doorbell right on the dot!
They always give us straight talk about our system,
and will fix only what’s necessary!
Up to this point even though our system is older, haven’t needed repairs, only regular maintenance, and check ups.
If we ever needed a major repair or replacement,
I wouldn’t hesitate to call Chuck.
I first heard of Chuck Farrell a few years ago through great reviews about him on TOTV.

Chuck Farrell. If you check almost all makes of AC are manufactured by 3 or 4 companies. We had estimates from all mentioned above. Estimates ranged from over $12,000 to Chucks of $3,900.00 and Chucks includes a aprilaire filter. Don't get stuck on a brand, the installer is much more important. Great price and service. We had ours installed about 6 weeks ago.

Chuck Farrell. Replaced my unit 3 months ago. Got 4 quotes for 3 1/2 to variable speed, Sunshine, Munns, and DeSantis came in all about the same at around $6200. Farrell was the 4th quote at $4500. Their American Standard unit is basically Trane. A google search shows they are made in the same manufacturing plant and are the same units with different distribution networks. Farrells installation team was exceptional and as you will see from all the posts on this site they by far get the most positive recommendations.

I thought Carrier was the best. Guess I'll have to do more research. Thanks, everybody.

Carrier systems life expectancy 10-15 years, Trane 15-20 years and add to your home value! Add tankless hot water at the same time and watch you electric bill drop! An investment you won't regret!

Here is a link going over the differences between Trane and American Standard from a large dealer in AZ who has sold both.

Nutshell, both are built on the same production line and identical except for color and logo. Even the price to the dealer is about the same... but dealers that buy more get lower prices. But there still can be reasons to choose one over another.

My Trane lasted only 9 !/2 years and had semi annual tune ups... very disappointed, the evaporator leaked . Replaced with a new Lennox two stage compressor, had a couple problems early on but excellent so far.
