Pond Fishing
Would love to catch a bass in one of The Villages ponds. Anyone wish to share a secret spot?

I'm pretty sure you can't fish in the ponds and that they do give citations if caught as there was an article about someone fishing in Lake Sumter that got a fine.

You can get a citation for fishing anyplace it's not allowed. There are many places (ponds) in The Villages you can fish. Lake Sumter is NOT one of them. The ones where it is allowed are in the link I posted.

Last week, before the cold spell arrived, I caught a couple of small Bass in Paradise Lake/Pond in the Historic Section and a couple of big Bass in Lake Mira Mira in Spanish Springs. I caught them all using Senko plastic worms rigged wacky style.

Do you need a license for fresh water fishing? If so, if you're over 65 you are excused from getting a license. Lake Minoa seems like an ideal spot since it's a state park and has a pier.

You do not need a fishing license if over 60
You do not need a fishing license in Florida if over 60 years old and a resident of Florida (FL drivers license etc) this applies to Fresh and Salt water 52 weeks per year although catch limits do apply

Lake Sumter Fishing
My husband has fished in Lake Sumter 5 or 6 times. TV has boat trips a couple days of the week in the cooler weather. He and his friends have caught a lot of fish. He is booked for another trip.
