I have a garage bath....

Thanks for the all of the responses! Sounds like we should try to fit this into our design.

What Contractor did you use?
I have always wanted a pool bath but have had no luck! Our home is a designer Lantana with 2.5 baths (there's an extra 1/2 bath off the laundry room). We have had four contractors come out, but none have come up with an easy or plausible way to connect to the existing plumbing/sewer line that is located diagonally in the front yard. One contractor said it would involve trenching around entire lanai and back to the front of the house and would involve a pump station. He also said the cost for a full bathroom including shower would be $50,000, which seems quite high. That doesn't even include climate control. We have a summer kitchen, so there's already water out to the lanai, and the bathroom would be located on that same side of the lanai (behind the summer kitchen wall). Another concern is busting up the cement on the lanai and not hitting any underground plumbing to the inground pool and/or inground spa. The new pool bath location would be on the side where the pool equipment (pumps, heater, etc.) is located. The contractors we had come out look to us for solutions and don't seem like they really want the job. Very surprising.
For those of you who are building, or have already added a pool bath, can you please provide your contractor's info? Also cost of addition. Thank you. |
We added a pool bath to our Laurel Oak 10 that we had built for us this winter. We expanded the lanai across the entire back of the house and put the pool bath at one end. Therefore, the extra bathroom doubles as a pool bath and a second full bath of the master.
It was extra money, but well worth it. We use it everyday. |
We had a pool bath designed into the house when we built the house 23 years ago. If I was building the house today, I would install a pool bath.
Reasons. 1. Convenient to the pool. 2. Non slip floor tile 3. Eliminates traffic and dripping water over mostly wood floors to the master or guest bathrooms inside the house. 4. Convenient bath room for contractors to use. 5. Convenient bath room when working outside particularly during the hot summer months. 6. If you include a closet, you will have additional space for storing towels etc. 7. Adds to the value of the house. Bill |
no - we had a large lake house that I designed and built with a full bath with easy access for swimmers - they did not use it - they went upstairs to their own rooms and bathroom instead. We just built a Woodside with a pool - I took out the third bathroom and made a storage closet - way more important to me than another toilet to clean !! People can dry off with a towel, put flip flops on and go inside on the occasion that nature calls.

Shower is nice, but the real value is having a toilet for peep's hanging outside.
|
There is a door to my pool from the master bath and is very convenient.
|
If you mean a spillover spa, ABSOLUTELY!! I use mine almost every night. Most relaxing and therapeutic before going to bed.

We have a pool bath that is rarely used, but the outside shower with hot and cold water has been primo.

Pool Bath, In my humble opinion, a complete waste of money. Just use the pool and add extra chlorine.
|
Pool Bath - That's one way of taking the "p" out of pool
