Pool Buzzer on Sliders
Does anyone know how this is supposed to work?
1. We open a slider 2. Buzzer goes off 3. We push the button 30 seconds later the buzzer goes off Rinse and repeat This is a new installation; The buzzer initially never went off. Then it started doing this. Sometimes it would put out an annoying high pitch. We filed a warranty claim and the guy says that's how it's supposed to work. So, what you can never have your sliders open? This doesn't sound right. I would think that the button should reset the buzzer until the next opening. Comments? Thanks. |

Couldn't handle the constant buzzing and wanted to keep the slider open so I clipped the wires. It doesn't buzz now. May just replace this with a blank plate.

Reading at the below link will probably explain why it is there and is, indeed, working as designed. TV cannot even temporarily disable those things. Can't count how many open houses I've been to, with pools, where someone will inevitably walk over and open the sliders and set off the alarm. Drowning is the #1 cause of death of children in the state of Florida, so there are strict laws to try and help prevent that. Once you take ownership of the home, there is nothing stopping you from disabling the alarm. You can get cited for doing so but I'm not sure how that would get policed. Maybe it's the same squad that comes in to see if you cut the tags off of your mattresses.

It doesn’t buzz but the micro relay has energized. You’ll need to re-enable this system if and when you sell the house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

We took the batteries out of our slider alarm as soon as the final inspection was done on our new pool. If we ever have young children over or sell the house we will just put in batteries. Whenever it is not too hot out we leave the slider open to let the fresh air into the house.

I thought the battery was a power back-up. Did you also un-plug the transformer in the garage? Well my unit was doing other bizarre things, high pitch whine, so I think I need a new one. But because I cut the wires, they won't replace it under warranty. Anyone know who makes this particular model. Galaxy did the install. |

Don't shot the messanger, just stating what was installed and approved by the inspector when our pool was built! |

We have an older pool installation and all out slider alarms have an on/off switch in the side.

Same here. Battery operated alarms are installed on ours as well. First thing we did was remove the batteries once the final pool inspection was complete. They also have an indicator light that comes on when the battery is low, so if they are being used, and if you have children (or elderly visitors where this might be an issue) there should be no issue determining when the battery is low.

The battery alarms are just cheapo devices that allows the installation to meet code. And for those who want to "feel" safe just use as directed......try opening one on the other end of the house and see who hears it!!!!!
We are typical of residents here and there are no children to deal with. Hence, turn them off, remove the batteries, remove the sensor, etc. |
