Just want to add this, after driving for hours the last thing I want to do is stand and eat a meal.

Fortunately, you and I go to different places. I go to Buc-ee's (no "k," has a hyphen). I enjoy the immaculate bathrooms. Then I stretch the legs whilst shopping the fishing and camping gear area. Next I grab a burrito and a beverage before heading out to get gas that is .30/gallon cheaper than anywhere else (and .10/gal cheaper than Costco).

Sorry you had such a bad experience at the Buckees or whatever knockoff to which you went.

Oh my!!! I have committed heresy, defaming the almighty Buckees. Oh, I did again, misspelled Buccee's, I'm such a heretic! Maybe if you went to some of the same places as I go, it might elevate your standards. I did some checking and you are going to have to show me solid proof that Bucees's gas is .30 cheaper. All I found was their prices were less than some and a bit more than some. Maybe it was a "whatever knockoff" that I went to, I did spell it Buckees.

Nahh, the gas price savings are through my own observations - I feel zero need to show you solid proof of anything. You want to pay more, help yourself. Not my place to force savings on you.

I too wish people who have never been to a Hooters wouldn’t make stupid statements like comparing to a strip bar. Employees are very professional and burgers and wings are good comfort food.

I never thought I would see the day that Portillo’s would cut a deal with the developer. Wow.

The popular Chicago-based Portillo’s restaurant chain has signed a lease to open a restaurant in The Villages.

Portillo’s has signed a lease to operate a 4,300-square-foot restaurant in the Cidery Building in downtown Middleton, the family community which is home to The Villages Charter School campus. An announcement was made by The Villages in Wednesday’s edition of The Villages Daily Sun.

More junk food from the Midwest.

Your entitled to your opinion. My observations

Gas is cheaper but no idea if it is $ 0.30 per gallon. Bathrooms are immaculate.

Great brisket and fried chicken sandwiches.

We do make it a point to stop when convenient but if you do not like it so be it.

The only thing worse is junk food from NY. :boxing2:

Daily news article today states Portillo's is starting to serve breakfast at some of its locations, breaking 62 years of tradition. They are also partnering with Stan's Donuts and Metropolis Coffee.

Frankly, I'd much rather have In-N-Out or a Vince's Spaghetti.

Seriously....Texas BBQ brisket does not have sauce....let alone a sauce that is absolutely disgusting. I cook a lot, like every day my entire life, and I know good BBQ....I gave Buc-ee 3 strikes and spent good money on a variety of offerings each time...and he struck out. Won't be trying to go Whenever it appears. I'll put my gas money into a nice piece of meat I smoke myself and I won't ruin it like Buc-ee's does

Name one good place for BBQ in central Florida? I haven’t found ONE.

Egads! What next? Calling Pacific Coast Hwy PCH? Or calling the 495 in NY the Long Island Expressway (LIE). Imagine living there and not realizing what happens around you? Crazy, right? I mean, who would do that? I guess if your entire time there was spent in an assisted living facility or hospital or some other kind of bubble, right?

I feel sorry for anybody living close to beltway.

We've been to a 4 Rivers several times, and find the food very good. I think I read somewhere that there's one going into Middleton. A neighbor's son had a birthday party for his dad, and had it catered by 4 Rivers. Everyone (including me) was raving about the food.

Haven’t heard about that one, I’ll try it when I’m close to one.

Yes, they are that good especially if you’re just ordering breakfast items.

I believe they are franchised locations not a Portillo's direct operation.

According to Portillo's FAQ, they do NOT franchise.

I stop because of their incredibly cheap gas and immaculate bathrooms.
I can’t leave without buying the black /white chocolate drizzle popcorn.

In my 20’s, that’s where you went after the bars closed for a delicious meal of eggs and hashbrowns, which honestly, I’ve been there more than I’d like to admit but have never actually had a waffle. The name should be hash brown house.

asianthree 05-09-2025 06:39 AM

Not a fan of 4 rivers, it’s ok but can do without. Smoked meat is by preference, to wood, smoke ring and tastebud. Family smoker is 7’x11’ looks like a log cabin on wheels

If you want your message to mean anything to all people, you might want to avoid abbreviations like that.

When using acronyms if should be first spelled out with Acronyms in parentheses, then after that used the acronym. Most think everybody know what acronym Means cause they been using them for years. Here example.

Quoted.
“ Spell out most acronyms on first use
If there’s a chance users won’t know the meaning of an acronym or initialism, define it at first mention. Write the term in full first and follow with the acronym or initialism in parentheses. Use the shortened form rather than the full term for later mentions.

Example
The Department of Social Services (DSS) manages a range of benefits and payments for eligible Australians. DSS helps support communities through a number of programs and services.”

Good news about Portillos coming to Middleton.

Which building is the Cidery building?

Rango 05-12-2025 06:44 AM

It’s nick name is the “Awful House”

There's a pig-roast/food truck that parks in a lot in Leesburg on 441. They have excellent pulled pork.

I heard that Hooters is changing their logo/sign for The Villages location. It will not be HOOTERS, it will be HUUTERS.

Walmart

Walmart is looking much more polished. It’s like ninja construction workers work on it all night long and in the morning the building is transformed to a better state than the day before each and every day. It has been going up at an unbelievable rate.

I’ve never seen anything like it. They are moving quite quickly.
