Can’t control lightning strikes.

Longest was about 10 hours

The longest power went out for us was during last year’s hurricane. It was out 8-10 hours? But then a lot of roofs had also been torn up. St Catherine didn’t get it as bad as up in the Fruitland Park area of the Villages though. They were out for days. Our internet was out about 6 days or so.

Sunday eve while walking the Dog by Saluki I saw a Green glow light up the sky for a few seconds looking towards Marsh bend. May have had something to do with it. Look Like a Transformer blew

We’re in the Fenney area and have never lost power in the 6 yrs we’ve been here.

Fun Fact. In 2018 my Wife and I rented a double wide manufactured home in the original section for 3 months prior to purchasing our home. I do recall losing power possibly 4-6 times in that 3 months during rain storms. We bought in Piedmont and other than planned, we have only had few power interruptions for less than a minute or so. We are really impressed with the planning that went into the infrastructure in The Villages.

So fortunate. Not all the Villages is like that. You definitely don’t live in the southern area.

Leesburg doesn't provide electricity - just gas. You're either Duke or SECO and was the provider accountable for this outage on Sunday.

They reported an affected area from west of Marsh bend to close to the Turnpike including Coleman prison and 950 homes (their estimate). I know reports of outages including Moultrie Creek, Shady Brook, and Waters Edge. Power went out just after 8:00 AM and returned briefly (~4 seconds) about 25 minutes later then fully resolved another ~20 minutes after that.

There was a large boom preceded the outage which more than likely was the transformer over at SECO Energy Federal Substation on Marsh Bend Trail (old 501) directly across USP-1 Coleman.

Leesburg Electric supplies several Villages

Leesburg Electric does cover several Villages. Mostly North of the Turnpike and East of Morse. Our electric gas bill is paid to Leesburg Electric. We are in the central/east section of Sumter county. I think Duke supplies the rest of the area south of 466A and East of Morse?

Sumter Landing area here. We did not even lose power back in 2017 with Irma.
SECO Energy here.

We have SECO in Linden area. Very impressed. Very fast response during one outage in 6 years. 1.5 hours outage. The little rainstorm did not cause an outage here. The company you have makes a difference, but most companies in this area respond well to outages.

Does power go out a lot with every rain storm or do you all think this was due to all the infrastructure here being so new still?

We've lived in the Villages for 11 years and have NEVER lost power during any storm!

I live in St. Catherine and we didn't have ANY power loss with Helene or Milton. We have electricity (and gas) from Leesburg.

On Sunday we had a 2 minute power blip. It was well after the storm, because we were out at Sawgrass listening to the Greg Warren Band when it happened. We have a TING sensor (provided by our insurance company) which alerted me to the loss of power and when it returned.

When St. Catherine was being finished, we would occasionally lose power when they were connecting a new section of houses to the power grid. Since then, we have a couple of very minor/short outages usually connected with a major lightning storm.

I wonder why only some of St Catherine and Citrus Grove lost power? Although I’m sure some have Duke and others have Leesburg. It was rather inconvenient for sure. We just left the fridge door closed and played cards. Like I said though, the Fruitland Park area lost power for days. I did notice the shingles were just recently replaced on the house up by the pond at the Citrus Postal station so all seems normal now. Sometimes some things take a while.

We didn't lose power during either hurricane. Maybe it was because of construction or an accident.
