Can you see the rockets when launched from The Villages? Can you hear them? I am soooo excited to get to see one someday! Ranks right up there on this old girls bucket list!

On a clear day/night, you can see the fireball and smoke trail if you have a good view of the eastern sky. You can google live launch, or go to space.com and verify it is lifting off. Years ago, we think we could barely hear the final Shuttle launch, but can't swear to it.

I’m 90 miles away by the crow flies, can’t hear them, but have good view for high spot at Chatham rec parking lot looking out over the tennis courts. O the one last Monday night was “Awesome”

Many moons ago, wife and I spent two winters at Cocoa Beach. Lucky to see space shutlle and several satelite launches.
The noise and spectacle was something we will never forget. Recommend going to as close as you can get to view. Awesome! |

From many places in The Villages you can see either the smoke trail or a bit of the flame if you look to the east. But that is if there aren't clouds in the way. I can usually see them from our back yard in the village of Glenbrook.
In 2011, I wanted to see one of the last shuttle launches and drove over to Titusville (about 2 hours away) but the area was jammed with cars and people. We had passed a rest area on south bound I-95 on our way there, and I decided to go back and watch the launch from there. It is only 15 miles from the launch complex and it is a great. People had lawn chars and the nice thing is since it is an interstate rest area there are bathrooms and cold drink vending machines available while you wait for lift off. When the shuttle went up, you could clearly see the rocket and shortly afterward could hear the sound. So if you ever want to see a launch without going all the way to Cape Kennedy, I would suggest this place. Just take route 44 east to I-95. Then head south to the rest area which is just past exit 231 (estimate is at mile marker 235). |

The best launch that I have viewed. Note the bright light ahead of the sun lit vapor trail is the starliner.

It was a good launch too see; however, the best launch I ever saw was Apollo 8, Dec.21,1968-I was driving to Key West for my two weeks reserve duty as I was just past Jacksonville the rocket lifted off--nothing today comes close to seeing an Apollo moon shot

If you get a chance to see a Falcon Heavy night launch, do it. I got up at 3:30am to watch the last one. Perfectly clear sky. No moon. Three times the fire going up. You could see the seperartion and the return of the boosters.

BREAKING: Boeing's Starliner capsule fails to make critical orbital burn, inserting capsule into wrong orbit. NASA to give live update at 9am. fyi> Boeing began preliminary work on the Starliner in 2010, a year before Atlantis soared for the last time. In 2014, Boeing and SpaceX made the final cut. Boeing got more than $4 billion to develop and fly the Starliner, while SpaceX got $2.6 billion for a crew-version of its Dragon cargo ship.

Our neighbor has a Magnolia Tree that is gigantic and blocked our view of the launch. Trying to decide what to do so we can see the next launch from our favorite chairs.

Buy on bad news, have too much profit on Boeing to sell while I'm alive , got it in 98 for $37.00--who else is going to take Boeing's place?

Great photo but you can tell it's in trouble ..... it can't even fly a straight line! Probably bad GPS coverage from Sprint.

Best stock I ever brought was Williams cos. Brought it after the crash In 2003/2004 for $2.75 5000 shares sold it for $ 42.78. Boeing stock goes up and down like roller coaster and IMO it’s on the down track.
