You signed up to live in an age restricted housing development. However if you want the amenities of close by shopping and restaurants that we have you're in he wrong development if you do no want to share these perks! Business here could not survive without people outside the Villages patronizing them. Therefore those areas are open to the public like any shopping/dining venue might be. If not having these these conveniences and choices available so close to you is ok then perhaps Del Webb or Spruce Creek is a better fit for you. Just my opinion of course.

Or even Cypress Cove. They allow no outsiders

we do have an element of snobbery (for lack of anything better to lable it) here in TV that seems to have certain measurements of certain areas to look down on, like Wildwood and Fruitland Park.

The knowledge of these areas is second through 25th hand....no real experience.

Some of us as kids lived in areas that would aspire to that of the good people of Wildwood and Fruitland......probably more than most would admit.

Just remember for the imagined "bad" you all have of these areas just try to remember that most....95% or more are good wholesome folks with kids, grand kids and retirees that look and act no differently than where most of us came from.

How do you measure these folks when you are in church? Is it OK there too to have an uppety attitude of folks who either may not have what some of us are fortunate enough to have or may have chosen to not be where such attitudes of one's fellow man reside????????

Lighten up....they are your neighbors and would help you in a heart beat....set rumors, old maids stories, BS and prejudice aside....when you are in the shower you look just like they do.....;)

Brownwood

I've been to the square when these kids were there. The kids I saw weren't there early in the evening, when the music and dancing was going on. The kids that I believe are being referenced, I don't believe live in The Villages, I would hardly think they work in The Villages, and I highly doubt they are spending any money in The Villages.

Most of them were milling around the parking lot. In fact, I drove down there in my own cart with my 40 year old daughter, to see a movie and someone walked us out, to pick up my cart to go home.

These are not just a bunch of kids dancing in a conga line. In fact, I've just been told they were caught trying to break into the sales office.

Do you think they needed maps or document forms?

The Wild Wild West

October 4, 2013 By Ryan Erisman

I was down in Brownwood the other day and I was kind of surprised how empty it is still. Don’t get me wrong, its going to be AWESOME when its done, and I know everything takes time, but I thought it would be a little further along than it actually is.

Until it does fill up, there are going to be some issues.

Interestingly on the very same day I went down to Brownwood a reader sent me this…

Can you give me your perspective on why The Villages allow a mob of teenagers to run wild through the square after dark?

Last Saturday my family came to visit us and we chose City Fire in Brownwood for dinner. From 8:30 to 10 pm we watched about a dozen kids run from across the street from the Sales office and the park bench next to City Fire. There were three police officers and a few Villages trucks patrolling but did nothing to move the kids out of the square. I viewed two of them trying to open the door of the Sales Office and one boy punch a girl in the head with his fist. The whole scene sickened me as this was my biggest concern moving to Brownwood last week.

I tracked down one officer and asked why he allowed these kids to roam freely in The Villages, supposedly an area for adults 55 and over. He said he couldn’t do anything about them yelling and running through the streets because it wasn’t a crime. When told about them trying the doors and the assault on the girl, he said he didn’t see it so he couldn’t do anything about it.

I feel like I made a big mistake buying near Brownwood and do not feel as safe as I was told by many people. If anyone can come into The Village’s Squares, what’s from stopping them from entering our homes?

Also this week, ************** reported that golf clubs valued at more than $2,000 were stolen from two golf carts Monday evening while the golf carts were parked at Evans Prairie Country Club, the newest and southernmost country club in The Villages.

It sounds very much like the Wild West in the south end of The Villages at this point.

Now of course it will get better as time goes on and Brownwood becomes more populated and established, but how long will that take and at what inconvenience to early residents?

Is this where you got the information about the supposed attempted break in?

Rumors gone Wild!

Kids trying to break into the sales office, I didn't see. I believe it came from the write up that has been posted. My husband turned around and told me about it as I was typing this.

The kids I saw when I was at the theater, I personally saw. I didn't feel like they were there to enjoy the dancing at the square and in fact, it was after 9:00 PM when I saw them. I didn't see any police, but it was a couple of months ago.... maybe they are there now.

To be honest, I don't care if you believe me. I just wanted to report what I saw when I was there. *shrug*

I didn't feel safe that late at night parked off the square.

It's disturbing to read this thread and the comments by some.....such bigotry and prejudice. Wake up folks. This is 2013. It's not all evil out there. Why post if these kids did nothing wrong? Trying a door is not breaking in, or attempting to.

Maybe they just left one of the restaurants, movies or whatever and decided to hang in the parking lot and talk. We do that all the time when we are out with friends. we start walking back to our car and end up standing around and talking for another 15 minutes.

OK, who told you that? Attempted break-in, that would require a police report right? Is there one? (Isn't this how rumors get started?)

I have no facts of any of the things in this thread personally. I just wanted to comment that I have seen enough of your posts to put some weight behind what you felt. Whatever the details, I am sorry that happened to you.....

Would you feel the same way at LSL and Spanish Springs? Or, for that matter leaving a store at the mall on 441/27?
