Default NOAA Weather Radio question

I just received a new digital weather system and I am trying to program it. I have the choice of 7 channels all with different frequencies. The brochure sent me to the NWS website but Ocala is the closest listing I found. I called the non emergency fire department line and I couldn't get an answer there either. :dontknow:

Does anyone know the frequency for Sumter County?

Thank you

Thank you both for your timely replies. I no sooner had it set and my first warning came through!

I'm curious, what was that warning?

Take it to any fire station and they'll program it to receive the three closest signals. Best of all, it is a free service!

My radio sounded off 6 times between 3am and 7 am...fortunately, the nastiest storms steered clear of The Villages this time. The new antenna works so much better than the service the Villages had prior to Feb 2nd, 07....of course, prior to Feb 2nd, most Villagers did not own a weather radio.

Gonna need a nap today!!!

Donna,

I never thought of Florida having tornadoes or that I would be moving to an area with a potential for tornadoes.

My radio didn't go off this week warning me of the tornado--- I thought I set it up correctly. Guess I should take it to one of the fire stations to get programmed.

HB - Tornadoes have been reported in all 50 states except Alaska. Most states do not have the number or severity of twisters as the hearland does (OK, Kansas, etc.). But Florida has had it share of level 1 and 2. (I think the Feb 2007 was officially listed as an F3 which was the strongest on record according to my link).
