I can't believe so many people are saying call the police. This wasn't an assault. Why tie up police resources for small petty confrontations. I suspect the OP wasn't shoved into another spot but rather rudely guided by the Alpha Female.

The issue here is why the OP didn't firmly stand her ground. I suspect she is posting here because when she left she was ashamed of not sticking up for herself.

This is very much a social-geographic thing. Some areas of the country talk back in public and some do not.

Each looks down on the other.

Got that rite. I notice it at our pool. Many people are reserved and many are in your face with an edginess about them. People should not invade anyone's personal space yet touch them??? Touch them?? Are you kidding?? Not good! Instincts would take over without any thought. Sorry for your trouble OP don't let it stop you from going to activities. 99% of the people here are fantastic.

Some people think it is just fine to put their hands on other people and move them around...without permission first.

They need to quickly and permanently be disabused of that notion.

It typically is only those that think they can bully others though.

Sadly, you find this at so many things happening in the Villages. I used to exercise at the pool, but was told more than once that I had to move because that space was saved "for my friend". And, you will also find this at Operation Shoebox, or any other of the charities. It's just rude and thoughtless people.... Consider the source and let it go. After 2 bouts of cancer, I've learned to "just let it go" and walk away.

One lady handled this very situation very well in an exercise class when another came in a said to her, "You need to move. This is my spot." The "offender" firmly, but politely told her, "Not today, it's not", and stayed put. End of problem and discussion.

Instructors are in charge of classes and need to know when problems arise, if someone continues with unacceptable behavior. They can and will handle it.

This all sounds way over the top. So many here are getting so worked up. There really are better ways to handle things.
I have never liked bullies, but we are all adults here. Sometimes we just have to stand up for ourselves.
She could have just told her, don't ever put your hands on me!! If I need anyone's assistance, I will ask for it.
If there were anything else said about it, I would have gone to the instructor. I may also have talked to the instructor after the class.
Hope everyone has an awesome day!!! ;)

You are very wise Bonny! Great response.
