It’s most definitely a generational thing.

I write maybe 3 checks a month for my practice... If I can pay it on-line, I will...

My wife writes about a dozen checks every month...

I'm slowly getting her to pay more things on line, but she doesn't completely trust it...

We're both in our early 60's...

Does anyone use Paypal or Venmo or Zelle to collect dues or fees for events for your clubs in the Villages? Which digital platform/s/ do you use?

I think a club (such as a Villages' club) can register for a personal account and not as a business. Is that true?

The fee structure is unclear to me.
I think that the following is the case:
1. If you use PayPal (or other form of digital payment collections) and the payee uses his checking account or PayPal debit, then there is no fee for either party.
2. if you go from member credit card to club's bank account then the credit card user is charged a fee.

is that correct?

Have you been happy using digital payments like PayPal?
If not, why?

thank you so much for answering.

Some people seem to just look for trouble. It is a club, not dealing in millions of dollars.
Concerned about credit card fees? Pay cash and get a receipt.

As far as credit cards, gone are the days of a cash business. A friend had a small retail store. It came up in gossip about a cash business. His reply was no one pays cash anymore. Good for the credit card companies and of course the taxman.

FYI... Venmo is now owned by PayPal

I've had several disputes about not receiving paid for items w/Paypal. They refunded my money every time...

PayPal has a dispute process, and it may be very good and fair. But, why do some merchants require you to make a purchase using PayPal instead of accepting a direct credit card charge, unless they are trying to avoid the mandated Federal credit card dispute process? For that reason, I will only do business directly with the merchant.

No idea, since I've never encountered that scenario...

I write 3 checks per year, because those 3 people request a check.

My parents write 3 per month, mostly at hair salons, pay at the desk doctor appointments.

I pay the rest of their bills online, which they have no clue how it is done, only their statements show money deducted in their statement that comes by mail. It’s not that they don’t trust online banking, It’s a generation thing, checks and cash were a norm.

Absolutely agree. Been using PayPal for well over 20 years as seller and buyer and they have dealt with issues 10x better than any credit card I have had and 10x faster especially if you are the BUYER. The BUYER virtually ALWAYS wins a dispute. As a SELLER I hate them because you will lose EVERY complaint even if you are in the right!
