Default Random thoughts, sorta

Random thoughts cuz it’s one of those kind of days. There’s no meaning and most of them are done:

Ever think you’d see the day when Helen Thomas was the darling of the Conservatives? And I don’t know about the other networks, but why did Fox use subtitles for Helen’s comments?

Nothing’s greater than finding a long series of books that you really enjoy, that the continuing characters become so familiar they’re almost family. And what’s really great is to come across a book from early in the series that you’ve previously overlooked. I recently found the first Martha Grimes pub series in a used book store. Couldn’t believe I’d not read it.

While on books, don’t you hate it when you really like an author, the plot lines, and the ancillary characters, but can’t stand the main character (see Ms Zukas). Loved the books, hated her. I’d rather spend an evening with Agatha Raisin.

Somebody should tell the good-looking blonde trial lawyer with the hair in her MANY local commercials that she needs some lip gloss. The glare coming off her lower lip in all those commercials is very distracting.

I read a Lauren Ritchie column last week or so and found myself agreeing with her. Is she changing? Am I changing? Or is it just one of those once in a lifetime things.

Why is it that if you want to participate in two clubs, their meetings are the same night?

When you’re on 466 going the speed limit and some jerk riding your bumper gives you the bird, apparently because you’ve left 2 car lengths between you and the guy ahead of you, you can give it back, but don’t slam on your brakes (FL is a carry state). It’s better to wait until he passes you on the right (he will) and then laugh at him. Ticks him off. Then at the next light where he’s stopped and you’re turning right on red, a little head shake to go with the laugh really ****es him off.

Did you ever think you’d go this long without hearing something about Caylee, Casey, and Cindy?

Did anyone but me see the video of Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) cooking and peeling a potato? Sounds stupid, but when I saw the end, I said “Wow, that’s neat.” http://tinyurl.com/l4xbes

How come USA and TNT can come up with quality dramatic/comedic series like Monk, Closer, Burn Notice, Psych, etc., etc., while the big networks keep reworking miserable reality shows? And when they do come up with a decent one or two, they put them in killer time slots where they’re destined to fail. I know, I know, it’s money, but SciFi (or now SyFy) has had more good shows than ABC.

I saw this month’s POA bulletin where the message du jour was that the VHA wouldn’t “cooperate” with the POA. Seems like their idea of cooperating is to adopt all the POA policies and programs. Sounds like the Dems seeking “bipartisan” action. We do it our way, you concede.

No more politics, local or national.

Okay, one more. Anyone second my nomination of Mrs. Governor Sanford for Woman of the Year for kicking the jerk out of the house and refusing to stand up next to him at his mea culpa speeches and playing the stooge. (Nothing personal Hillary or Mrs Senator Craig or Mrs Gov Spitzer or Mrs Sen Ensign and many more) If the Sanfords get back together, more power to them, but you gotta know, if the do, it will be on her terms.

Of all the celebrities who have died of late, anybody think Billy Mays will be the most missed?

You know, I think one of these days I’m going to go to Bealls and get something from the 50% rack with an extra 40% off. It’ll be the right day of the week, so there’s another 10-15% off. And since I’m over 60, there’s another 10%. And I’ll use my new Bealls credit card so there’s another 15%. I figure they’re going to have to pay me at least $10.00 to take those shorts out of the building.

There's no valid reason for me referring to the non-Executive Golf Courses as Adult Courses. Just always have since I moved here. I thought and still think call them "Championship Courses" is a little presumptuous. And calling them the Country Club Courses is too long. Adult course just fits.

Default That's why .........

Muncie,

The reason, they're ticked is, as you stated, "when he passes you on the right ........" that means you must be in the left or passing lane. If you stay in the right lane, then he/she CAN pass you in the left or passing lane.

Problem solved.

OABTW: I have 3 venues all scheduled at the same time on the same night.
Tuesday night is a) Villages Concert Band, b) Jazz lovers club, c) Chicagoland club. Go figure ............ !

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

My wife told me that Willie Mays died. I was in mourning for the great center fielder for hours before my buddy told me it was Billy Mays that died. I asked him what team did he play for.

No, in this case it was quasi rush hour with traffic in both lanes, moving about the same speed. In traffic conditions such as this, both lanes are thru traffic lanes, not a thru traffic lane and a passing lane. When he did pass, he had jumped into a space in the right lane roughly 1 1/2 car lengths causing the guy in the right lane to hit his brakes, then tailgated the car ahead of him until it sped up and moved into the left lane. This allowed him quite a bit of space to move ahead. His actions coincidentally allowed me to move right safely and sanely for my turn at Morse.

Keedy---That is so funny. I never heard of Billy Mays. I didn't know what all the fuss was about. I loved Willie Mays. As you said, he was a great center fielder. Not bad at the plate either.
