We bought a membership when we lived there & even with a membership sometimes there would maybe be 1 or 2 treadmills available. I couldn’t amagine how crowded it would be if it was FREE, people would be complaining because they couldn’t use the equipment. Just join for one month & you’ll see what I mean. I’m not complaining either but could you amagine how crowded these Fitness Centers would be if just half of the 120,000 people would want to go there. Then you would feel that you’re not getting your monies worth. I guess everybody looks at it in a different way!

I own a condo in Fairfield Glade TN. A very large retirement community. We pay an amenities fee each month but also have to pay for the use of all the so-called amenities when we use them (small fee). One purchases an amenities card paying upfront and each time you use an amenity the fee is debited off your pre-paid amenities card.

I totally agree! Wanted to join the Fenney gym but was astounded when I was told they have a fee.

MVP is a privately owned German is not affiliated with the villages. Of course they have a fee

My point is that Silver Sneakers is an insurance benefit that is available only to people over 65 who have a certain type of Medicare plan. Some of these people don't even live in The Villages and don't pay amenity fees. But, The Villages fitness centers are using space and utilities in community rec centers that are maintained by Village residents who pay amenity fees. It would be very difficult to calculate a fair price for using the fitness centers only for those who are not eligible to purchase a Medicare plan that includes a free health club membership.

The powers that be want you to play golf or pickleball. Unlike most retirement communities or even motels,no free gym/fitness workouts; no decent jogging/walking trails unless you want to dodge golf carts. Go figure.
They are obviously not fitness fans.

I agree, maybe everything else in TV can close at 9 & no one cares but not having any pools opened late is horrible. I don't get why TV has no gym with equipment for public use. No indoor pool in TV, I was surprised.
If no one wants a gym then MVP should not exist at the price they have.

It's already been mentioned in 3 posts, MVP is not owned by TV, it's a private money making enterprise. Like any business, they calculated how much they can charge and still be at full capacity. As already noted by one poster, it's sometimes difficult to find a treadmill, or a piece of equipment available.

My wife's Zumba class as with all classes due to the covid requires you to make a computer reservation in advance or you don't get in. The time is exactly 24 hours before the scheduled class the website will allow you to reserve. Her class is at 10:30, so the day before we have to be on the MVP website at 10:30 to make a reservation, twice I was late and didn't get on within five minutes and the class was already full. We don't need discount membership at MVP, it's for people who are serious about their workouts and their health.

With a little investigation, you could of found out about "To Your Health Fitness Gym" in Lady Lake across from Oakwood BBQ. It's been open about 3 years. They have an indoor pool, classes and monthly membership of $20, or $220 a year. You might drive a little, that's the price of convenience.
