:agree:You can walk early in the morning to avoid the sun if that's a concern(even in the coldest part of the winter it's nothing compared with the rest of the country). You can swim, again earlier in the day if you want to keep out of the sun, yes some days are a little cold for swimming, but I do it 99% of the days. Pickleball, table tennis, tennis and e.t.c. I'm suprised to hear many people gain weight when moving here! I've been so active I wouldn't of even thought it was possible to gain weight

These restrictions make me want to take my treadmill to TV, but the problem is where to put it. With no basements and I'm told the garages and the lanai are too hot, that leaves the bedrooms, and even with stretches, the model we plan to build has bedrooms on the small side. Guess I might have to consider those beds built in the wall to open up floor space. Or, I might have to walk outside, but then I can't watch TV to make the time go by faster.

Interesting… I am getting to the point I can not run or do impact due to a minor issue on my hip/nerv… I normally walk long distances with a music player or, if you enjoy a good books on tapes, there are several very good books you could load in your iPod or similar. And the surroundings are breath taking, so you won't get bored and if you get good songs/ books, you probably won' want to stop either. So , keep on walking and enjoy! Best,

In TV rec center gyms, if no one is waiting for the cardio machines, a person can remain on their machine as long as they like. The gym "monitors" will come to you to let you know it is time to get off the machine when someone is waiting. They will ask the person who is on the machine the longest to get off first. Mornings are a busy time in season, so I just count on being on the Elliptical for 20 minutes. If it is my cardio day, I'll go on a bike for another 20 minutes. As for the weight machines, there are so many to choose from, I very rarely have to wait for one as there is always another one to get on. I'm one of those snow birds so I only know how busy it is while in season.

I don't understand why our fitness room is considered only a warm up room by your baseball player friend. The equipment is top notch. I am a member of a "regular gym" in New Jersey where I live full time and the equipment is the same as what there is in The Villages. You can set The Villages machines to the same amount of weights as the machines in a "regular gym". I'm really baffled by that statement. As for limiting the amount of time on the cardio machines....come in the off times at the gym, no matter what time of year and spend as much time as you like using the equipment.

No, not in TV rec center fitness centers.

We are also considering taking our well used 12 yr old treadmill to TV
We plan to put it in the guest rm and close it up, when visitors come.
gym fees, privacy, super hot days, rainy days, etc are reasons for the treadmill.
The bowflex we have here in Atlanta, we will sell since my husband did not use it as much
Shame....it is almost new.....

I have not had a problem with getting access to equipment at MVP. Beside which MVP will have an additional location at Brownwood.

For those who walk, walk away the pounds is a low impact, 3 miles in 45 minutes excellent indoor cardio program at many rec centers. No sun or heat issues. We love it, both my husband and I.
