I seldom ever look at it, but that's not the point for me. For just over $100 annually (including tip) I get a seven days a week newspaper, delivered to my door, in double plastics bags when it's raining. I doubt there is any other place in the USA where you get a daily newspaper for such small cost. I complain about the coverage, and the "crime" reporting that doesn't name names, but overall, I'm happy with the Daily Sun.

Have lived here four and a half years, best part of the paper. First thing we read every Thursday, Only way we would have known of any Club Activities here. Needs to be expanded. Much more money is wasted here. I would pay more, could cut back on days the "Daily Sun" is published if you like. Most of the rest of it is worthless and can be read in less then ten minutes. Why should the people crying poor decide everything.

Absolutely true. There is every opinion. And the compromised version makes seems to make no one happy.

Default printing costs

Has anyone questioned why the Villages still puts out a monthly slick magazine? How many folks read that? If that one magazine were eliminated, there'd be $ for other items (like the Rec news).

The monthly magazine is probably a money maker based on the number of ads.

We pull the Recreation News, along with the other usual repetitive inserts and toss. Most inserts are like junk mail.
How many do the same thing?
If they raise the cost of the Daily Sun to support what has become a political football, we will cancel our subscription to home delivery.

We can easily stay up to date with the online version which does not have the insert problems.

The recreation news is a bloated, redundant information source that can easily be significantly reduced in tonnage or eliminated with opt in type options.

Those who want it should be bearing the costs.

In my humble opinion!!
How about if the DS asks if we want it. If yes, pay extra, if no reduce my rate. How about they just put it on line so I don't have to look at it every Thursday before I ****can it.

The slick magazine concept is worn out....redundant....very little new if anything....
Cost wise I suspect is supported by the developer and not subscriptions.

The new cut down version is inferior to the prior thick version .. Was and still is the highlight of the Thursday paper .. was much more enjoyable to go through than searching online

According to the other news site, a CDD 7 Supervisor suggested that the cost of producing the Recreation News could be offset by selling advertising. District Manager Janet Tutt said that idea would “open a can of worms” because the Villages District Office could not wheel and deal with potential advertisers. My thinking is that they could not restrict who advertises.

“We don’t support any private entity. It’s a slippery slope,” she said. I would add that they as a government agency shouldn’t only support any one private entity.

Let all have equal access to the advertising! As I have learned in my brief time living here, that will not happen.

Amenity fees cover 90 percent of the cost with The Developer paying 10 percent. They, the Developer should then have some say but The District Office, a government agency controls the show?

It truly is a slippery slope!

My opinion would be to print it, put it in the local stores and if you want it, you buy it!
