This is absolutely correct. There isn't much difference between going 20 mph and going 25 mph. If the street legal cart that can go 25 mph goes more than 20 mph on the paths, they are in violation of the speed limit and can be ticketed. Nonetheless, they are free to use the paths within the law. Don't post things as an "absolute" if you don't know the law.

The county police have no jurisdiction on the MMPs because these are private property. The Community Development Districts lack police power, so they cannot enforce rules. I have seen snowbirds grinning ear to ear riding motorcycles on the MMP next to El Camino Real, right past Sumter sheriff’s deputy’s running radar. You could run wild with a Mack Truck on the MMP, but don’t leave a white cross in your flower bed!

Where did you find the published speed limit of 20MPH on paths??

from the District web site -> PDF Viewer

in the above pdf " If the districts were to adopt rules for use of the multi-modal paths, such as speed limits, or types
of conveyance usage
, then the method of enforcement would be an issue.Community Development Districts do not possess any law enforcement powers."

and -> Multi-Modal Path Information and Safety

Default GCP vs MMP

Sounds like many people don't know the difference between a "Golf cart path" and a "Multi Modal Path"

If anyone does not like what is happening on the MMPs, then I suggest you drive a car and use the roads.

Default Sort of same topic

Have seen some scary users on the paths, but just as dangerous are the pedestrians who use the designated cart/bike lanes on the roads and refuse to move out of way. Repeatedly had to stop due to cars passing and wait for the walkers to pass by.

That is an interesting statement as most golf car gas engines are 300-360 cc. You are thinking of mopeds/scooters if less than 49cc don't need a motorcycle endorsement to drive.

I have an Atomic Car and obey the 20 mile per hour on the golf paths. It is not registered Street Legal. While driving on the golf cart paths I have been passed by many, many, golf carts going over the speed limit. Those drives actually tailgate you trying to push you faster. It is not just the newer style golf cars that are the issue. Golf cart owners are in violation too!!

So what?

That happens on any road. Like all of us, you must have learned how to deal with it years ago.
