Default General Question on Thanksgiving Dinner

I was talking to one of my friends yesterday and asked her about her plans for Thanksgiving dinner. She said they were having it at 6 PM. Ever since I was a child, we have always had Thanksgiving dinner around noon and then we watch the football game. I am curious what time other people eat Thanksgiving dinner. Is it usually the noon meal or the evening meal?

We generally shoot for 1-2 o’clock. Also generally don’t watch much football unless the Patriots are in one of the games.

We've always done it in the late afternoon. If you have it at noon time, shouldn't it be called Thanksgiving lunch?

It all depends on the term dinner, supper, or lunch - and probably where you grew up. If you are eating in the late afternoon, it should be called Thanksgiving supper. If you go to a charity Thanksgiving dinner, most of them are around noon.

We typically call it for 4:00, but this year we're going later, @ 5:00...

5PM but forget cooking a turkey ... just get a WAWA Gobbler bowl! Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce all in a microwaveable bowl with a cover for instant lunch tomorrow !! Option sandwich available! YUM!

As a child, our Thanksgiving dinners as well as Sunday dinners were always at 2:00. I and my family have always maintained that 2:00 holiday dinner time. It wouldn't be a holiday if we were not seated at the table at that time.

We always have Thanksgiving dinner around 6:00 pm after starting the morning with breakfast and golf and flag football that afternoon. Our quests are assigned at by a blind raffle pick who will wear Pilgrim or Indian costumes at dinner.
