Default Old Mill Playhouse 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival

They are having another film festival at the Old Mill Playhouse. This one is the 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival from November 2nd through November 15, 2007. The six movies they are showing are: The Bread, My Sweet; In the Shadow of the Moon; Jesus, Mary and Joey; Randy and the Mob; Sweet Land; and Wondrous Oblivion.

Anyone seen any of these? Can you recommend seeing any of these? I heard that In the Shadow of the Moon is excellent.

Some of these films seem to be out on DVD. It does make a big difference with some movies with whether you see them on the 20 foot + picture screen or just on your TV.

Went to see Sweet Land at the 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival at the Old Mill Playhouse today. This is a really good movie and the cinematography would lack its full impact on a smaller screen unless you have a really huge home screen TV. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sweet_land/

TOTV members and readers should check this one out if not at the 2nd Annual Ind. Film Festival then at home on DVD which is out now.

Hope some other TOTV members will take a look at some of these films and write something about them?

Incidentally, Rotten Tomatoes is a good resource to find out what a range of critics have written about particular movies. Gives you a good idea of what to expect after the film starts running.

In the Shadow of the Moon is a really great movie. Seems like a great pick from the Old Mill Playhouse management for the Villagers too!

It tells the story of the 24 men http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apollo_astronauts who went on Apollo missions to the moon in their own words and with pictures from the Apollo missions. It is by Ron Howard.

It looks like the Old Mill Playhouse has extended the 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival to the 20th of November.

It's the last day of the 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival at the Old Mill Playhouse. Saw Randy and the Mob today which is a cute movie. I saw 3 of the 6 movies they had there and hope to get the others 3 at some point in the next year. Really looking forward to seeing Wondrous Oblivion on DVD.

Kudos to the Old Mill Playhouse management for picking some winners this year for this area.

Please boycott the movie Redacted if and when it is shown in any of The Villages theaters. Bill O'Reilly suggests picketing with signs that read SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. This film by Cuban is highly offensive to our military.

Thanks for your opinion. This one may not make it to the Villages' theaters.

Rented one of the movies that was in the just finished 2nd Annual Independent Film Festival at the Old Mill Playhouse (Nov 2-20, 2007). I got it from Blockbuster.com. This is the British movie Wondrous Oblivion. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/wondrous_oblivion/ It is worth a look on DVD as long as you can get through the British and other accents as well as the cricket nuances. It is about a young Jewish boy, his love of cricket, and his relationship with his black next door neighbors.
