Rocky and the Rollers was, is, and will always be the best band in our squares. Period.

I think Rocky and the Rollers are terrible. Even though I'm 68, their music is old overplayed crap. And his voice is shot. Relic and The Hooligans are the best bands that play here. Unfortunitely The Holligans only play a few times a year. Both bands pack the squares. And at least they play "some" songs from this century. Lots of good music has been made since Y2K. Old music isn't always good music. |
The following bands play HARD Classic Rock: Relic, Penta, Uncle Bob, The Deadlanders, and The Edge Of Rock. If you crave Ozzy, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Boston, etc.- all with blistering electric guitar, these are the bands that play True Classic Rock. The Deadlanders are our favorite- but for some reason no one we mention then to has heard of them. They play Hard Rock, and Hard Country. Their singer is phenomenal and their guitarist is World Class.

Not for those who crave Hard Rock. To me, "Classic Rock" is ZZ Top, Ozzy, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, etc. Bands like Rocky and The Rollers and the many similar bands play Mellow Rock- like Neil Diamond, even though The Villages advertises them as Classic Rock. Penta, Uncle Bob, The edge Of Rock, and Deadlanders all deliver True Hard ClassicRock.

OP here, interesting responses. I never said Relic was no longer any good after the departure of their lead guitarist, just that the new guy is not nearly as good in my humble opinion. They are still one of the better bands in the rotation, although their appearances seem to be somewhat limited. I appreciate the recommendations of other bands, and plan to check out three suggestions that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to see (Penta, Deadlanders, and The Edge of Rock).

Penta and Uncle Bobs are the two bands we hope to see on the docket when we feel like going to the squares.
Of course we try to go to the rare Spazmatics appearances too. Always a fun time! |
