Relocation Advantage
When we were down for our preview of the villages, we were given a Relocation Avantage brochure, from a nice lady named Karen. It has to do with selling your old house and buying your new home in the villages. Has any one used this and how did you like it, and would you do it again? Thanks

We did not. I wanted my agent to get fully paid for his efforts, and I got a better deal from a national moving company.

I used them. They called a couple of realtors for me to interview to sell my old house. I used one but after 6 months, I dropped him and did a FSBO. They also had a couple of movers based in TV call me but their estimates were very high. I went with Bekins and saved over $1,500. The relocation folks did arrange for a rental cottage in TV and a general delivery address in Lady Lake which was helpful. No harm in using this service since it's free and they will keep in touch with you but make sure you get other estimates for services.

We used the service to sell our home and contact a moving company. They contact the two top realty companies in your area, and their top realtors contact you for an appointment. After you make your choice Relocation Advantage requests weekly reports as far as the status of your property and what measures are being taken to promote its sale. I liked that. After the sale you are contacted by the top moving companies, and once again you make the choice. There is a corporate discount and insurance is included. We bought an existing home, but I think the procedure is the same.

I used them and was very pleased. They make the realtor selling your house accountable to them and took the guesswork out of a moving company.

Thumbs up
We used them and they got us a top area selling agent and the prices we were quoted for the movers from relo could not be beat. We mainly chose to use them for the services they provide in case our moving and move in dates got complicated. We bought a spec home so everything worked out well for the actual move so we didn't need those services but it was nice to know they were there. We got a good deal and they are free to you but as an earlier poster stated, get other estimates as each situation is different.

They are "sorta free", but I believe their business model is based on getting a portion of the sales commision on your home. We tried to use their services for getting a mover with a discount but were told that since we did not use them for a real estate referral that we were not eligible for a move discount. Had we used them for the real estate portion it probably would not have cost us anything but our agent would not have received as high of a commision - unless he would have charged a higher commision since he had to give some back to the relocation people.

I used them back in 2001 and was totally happy with the whole deal. They asked me for the names of the better real estate agencies and got me agents from two of the names I gave them - of which I picked one and got me two (Or three) moving van companies - of which I picked one.
The agent did a bang-up job. The movers did their job. I had no problem at all and I think it saved me a lot of time since they did a lot of the pre-work for me.
