Agree with Rubicon. When we were exploring retirement places in Central FL we noticed that many advertised that they were "close to The Villages." We wanted to be IN The Villages...not just close to The Villages. Stonecrest is going to have to change their advertising and delete the part about "golf cart" access to The Villages. If someone wants golf cart access to The Villages then they are going to have to buy in The Villages. Surprised that the developer has not shut down outside golf cart access well before this. They are in this to sell property/homes and make money and not friends. The residents outside of The Villages end up dealing with the results of the decisions.

Not quite true. If you buy street legal you can still get to the Villages. I am not that worried. I feel sorry for the rental places. Why rent a four seater if you cant go anywhere.

I personally don't think this gate has anything to to do with the Stonecrest residents, I feel this gate is the developers reaction to the new assisted living development that is being built by someone other than them. The new development (I don't know the name) asked for us people using the old dirt path to Lowes and beyond, to help them by signing petitions to change how the land was to be used and promising us continued use of the roads if the development was built.
It seems like like the developer of the new facility has stated in their advertisements that golf cart access to The Villages is possible. We all know that there is HUGE money is assisted living facilities because that seems to be the big thing on the developer's mind as The Villages builds out. So I feel this is just a battle for dollars.

I would rather have the people come over The Villages by cart than car. The roads are too full of cars now! You can always park 2 - 4 carts in the space that one car takes. I feel the people from Stonecrest will still come to The Villages for the shopping and entertainment, but now they will have to take up more space because "OUR" developer is losing a few dollars!

If they wanted Villages amenities, they should have bought in The Villages.

Wow you must be one of the "Friendliest" People they sing about on the commercial. Maybe they could hire you for the next one. You could yell "GET OFF OF MY LAWN"!!!!. that would be more like the attitude I am seeing here. If we want to drive our golf carts we can buy street legal. What is the big deal?:boom:

Love that psychology, make them give us what we want because we want it and we'll verbally attack them for not acquiescing. How dare they deny us use of their property.

Buy street legals, pay the price for the street legal, yearly license fees and insurance and you will then be able to understand the premium we had to pay to use the private multi-modal paths in The Villages.

Your angst for the rental places escapes me, they'll be fine.

Again, if you want The Villages lifestyle, buy in The Villages. You have the same opportunity to buy here that the rest of us living here had. Don't stand outside the fence and whine because you selected a compound developed with far less vision than the Morse's, it was your choice.

This thread has gotten way off track and has a number of posts with personally directed comments. Too many to prune out.
