I prefer permanent residents to renters, only because usually renters are here for a short time and then gone, never to be seen again.

Some renters are scouting homes. I know quite a few folks who bought after they rented a season or two.

(I understand the sense of community between owners but...)

I also understand that renters can be an issue, however, that is not the case with me. I was an owner before I came here to test out area before purchasing, until the prices went so far up, that if I wanted to buy, I may no longer be able to afford to buy here. I am also home-bound due to illness so no parties, no noise and I maintain the property as if it were my own.

I hope I am wrong about this....

We are all renting space on this earth.

How many times on this forum has the post ā€œ high season wouldn’t be a problem if the renters, and snowbirds stayed away. Just food for thought. That first post will start in a week.:MOJE_whot::ohdear:

I do become a ā€œRenterā€, when some drive by door knocker stops by. They leave immediately soon as you say I am a renter. :a040:

We have never rented, 2 lifestyle visits, bought on the second trip.

We've had mostly great luck with our renters, most are like someone said, checking out the different neighborhoods before buying. I fact, my place just opened up for January and we'd love to get another nice renter into it, pm me if interested

We had one lifestyle visit and bought our "seasonal" villa on that trip. It is true what they say not to bring your checkbook with you or you just might buy something when you see this place. So true in our case. We had not planned on purchasing but we did. The Villages has to be seen to be believed. A few years later we sold the villa and purchased our forever home. LOVE it here.

I can assure you it has nothing to do with being a renter, especially if your place is kept up , Ive had 6 homes here and barely knew my neighbors, there are others like me who like to socialize outside there neighborhoods , that’s possibly how the people you may be meeting feel .The last thing I ever want is a neighbor who feel they can just knock on my door to ask me how it’s going and how about a cup of coffee , yuck !!Go Patriots

And I am the opposite… I always enjoy a neighbor stopping over for coffee or a beer!

How long is your lease? It may be time to start looking for another place to rent when your lease is up.

We are leasing from the government. The amount you pay is in your real estate tax bill you receive each year. :mademyday:

A lot of people will not invest in a friendship with renters, tomorrow they will be gone, and a new renter will appear. Nothing against renters, but not worth the time making a new friendship with somebody who will never be seen again.

Oddly, we rarely, if ever, see the one's on either side of us... People can be strange...[/QUOTE]

... when you're a stranger.

davem4616 12-27-2021 10:20 AM

the law of attraction has very little to do with being a homeowner or a renter...just saying

Blackbird45 12-28-2021 06:08 AM

As cold as this may seem, many owners after withdrawing the initial information from a renter move on knowing to establish a true relationship with a renter is a waste of time since they will be gone once the weather changes.

Life as I know it 12-28-2021 06:08 AM

My home is my private haven.

We have moved four times here in the Villages. We have been happy with all of our neighbors but we found that we need to maintain a little distance from the neighbors who would show up at our door without calling first. We try to balance our social life between our neighbors and our personal friends.
As far as renters, we do not have any rentals in our immediate neighborhood but if we did I would be friendly with them, invite them to our block parties but unless we had a lot of the same interests I would just be friendly. Like one poster said they are here today and gone tomorrow.
