We put the wood floors in all 3 bedrooms years ago and love them! The company that installed them are no longer here!

[QUOTE=yokodavis;2368205]Hi All,
I am a newcome, scheduled to close on my new house 09/24/24.

I would like to replace the carpet that the builder installed in the two bedrooms with the same vinyl plank the buider installed for the rest of house before my new furniture scheduled to be delivered on 09/25/24.

Has any one done this before ? Can someone recommend a flooring guy ?

Reedy Flooring Leesburg. Old school family company very honest.

Cuervo 09-08-2024 09:17 AM

I'm also a native New Yorker and have been in The Village for 12 years.
We were here for a couple of years before deciding to replace carpeting, but instead of vinyl we went with hardwood flooring.
Since we were already here for 2 years, we had all our furniture in place, and it did not seem to be an issue.
The place we purchased the flooring was Floor Masters - 9581 US-301, Wildwood, FL (352) 399-0090
They have a large selection of hardwood, but I also believe they have tile and vinyl.
I don't know if it is the same today, but when we went the place was jammed packed with homeowners and contractors.
If you can I suggest you give it a try.

I'm interested in this too. I close on 9/25. See you soon!

This way it was done before furniture. Then I put felt pads that I got at Walmart on all the furniture legs. I love it and don't find them cold at all. I use the non-slip pads under my rugs.

Thx. This is exactly what I m going to.

Apply The Villages 5x Rule. Take what you think is a reasonable time and cost to complete the project and multiple it by 5!

A good installer at a good price

I realized that this does not address your question. However, I just put LVP in my entire basement (up north). That included ripping up the existing carpet. It's very easy to install and looks beautiful. If you're somewhat of a DIY, it's not overly challenging at all. Another option (if you're trying to save some $$) is to order all the flooring (measure SF and order 10% more). Then hire a good handyman. I'm not a "flooring guy" and have no specific flooring skills and had no problem with this project. As a reference, the whole job took a l-o-n-g day. Call it a day and a half. Using my labor, I saved about 70% over the quotes I got from a professional flooring outfit.

We bought our house last year. We replaced the bedroom carpet with vinyl plank flooring that we bought in and had it picked up at the Lowes in Wildwood. We also had the house painted at that time. We used a painter and flooring person in the Villages. I think this is the name of the person that did the floors, but you would have to call and find out. It is JES Home Improvement (Rick is his name) and he was very good. The number is 502-649-7434. Hope it helps. PS- I love the vinyl plank flooring!!

Agree if you want to match. We replaced our rugs with Mohawk luxury vinyl flooring made in US and with lifetime warrantee. the install was by LA Flooring, 318 Shopping Center Dr, Wildwood. Family owned. Did great job removing all baseboard, lowering it to meet new flooring and touching up the wall so you could not see where baseboard had been before.

My wife said it’s a personal choice and I total agree. Some like the feel and warmth of carpet in the bedroom. Others like the way the luxury vinyl looks as it flows through from the living area into the bedrooms depending on what model of home you purchase. In short, whatever the wife wants is exactly what is best.

Mazjaz 09-11-2024 08:23 PM

We replaced all our floors after closing with Best Flooring off of 466. They had the best pricing of all the flooring companies we visited. They did a great job.

I did this in a fully furnished home. The furniture did not present a problem. They moved the furniture to the other side of the room. I would not worry about rushing. Move in and then reconsider. I got wood floors due to the use of a wheel chair. Easier to use the chair on the wood floors.

yes, I would just ride out the carpet for a few years as it’s already there and yank it out once it wears in a few years down the road, etc.

Thx for the suggestion. It helped me identify the floor maker and color.

yokodavis 09-29-2024 10:05 AM

I did it. I COE on 09/24 and had two bedrooms carpet replaced with LVP on 09/25

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions and recommendations.
I interviewed 7 flooring companies and Tony D at 774-644-9317 (shown as above).
I decided to buy the LVP from Floor Masters and hired Tony D to do the work.
The total price is almost 1/2 of Great Lakes and other companied quotes. (Robertos quote is pretty good too)
Tony is one of best contractors whom i have worked with. ( I have been a landlady since 2003 and have done a lot of remodeling).
He is very responsive, responsible, and reliable.
He picked up the LVP on 09/23, started the job on 09/24 ( from 4 to 10 PM), and finished the job on 09/25 (from 4:30 to 10:30 PM) as he promised.
I am extremely happy with his work. I highly recommend his services.

Sincerely,

Yoko
