The only downside about doing it after the fact is that you will probably need transition strips wherever the new flooring meets the existing, even though you're meeting up with the same LVP. Some people don't mind that though. |
I closed on my house in May and my agent found out for me who the floor installer was (Great Lakes), they already knew what was in the house and had it in stock. I called them before closing and arranged for them to do the 3 bedrooms starting the day after closing (I came in person). It took them that day only and looked great. This way it was done before furniture. Then I put felt pads that I got at Walmart on all the furniture legs. I love it and don't find them cold at all. I use the non-slip pads under my rugs.

The lead time to schedule install was many weeks (Remember 4-6?). |
Opinion, makes the room noisier as sounds have less soft stuff to absorb it. Floor is cold to the feet the walking around barefoot, waking and from shower. Personally more comfortable than tile. Buy a Roomba Vac cleaner Keep stuff off the floor and let er go with the door closed. Come back an hour latter and your floor has been vacuumed. \

No, no one has ever done this.

Much good input so far in this thread.
I'd also add that IMO, vinyl plank flooring would be a plus if and when you sell your house. Old people = occasional incontinence, and trips from the bed to the bathroom might not always be incident-free. Cleaning the vinyl is no problem. On the other hand cleaning the carpet in such cases might not be as problem-free, to say nothing of the smell that may very well be there after repeated incidents. |
Replaced all of the bedroom carpeting in our 2004 house with hardwood to compliment hardwood in the main living areas. Work was done by Great Lakes Carpet & Tile, Lady Lake, (352) 753-7502. Work was completed before we moved into the house. It was a 2-day job with excellent results. Sales staff is easy to work with and installers were very professional. Highly recommended.

We put the wood floors in all 3 bedrooms years ago and love them! The company that installed them are no longer here!

I would not use Nichols

[QUOTE=yokodavis;2368205]Hi All,
I am a newcome, scheduled to close on my new house 09/24/24. I would like to replace the carpet that the builder installed in the two bedrooms with the same vinyl plank the buider installed for the rest of house before my new furniture scheduled to be delivered on 09/25/24. Has any one done this before ? Can someone recommend a flooring guy ? Reedy Flooring Leesburg. Old school family company very honest. |
I'm also a native New Yorker and have been in The Village for 12 years.
We were here for a couple of years before deciding to replace carpeting, but instead of vinyl we went with hardwood flooring. Since we were already here for 2 years, we had all our furniture in place, and it did not seem to be an issue. The place we purchased the flooring was Floor Masters - 9581 US-301, Wildwood, FL (352) 399-0090 They have a large selection of hardwood, but I also believe they have tile and vinyl. I don't know if it is the same today, but when we went the place was jammed packed with homeowners and contractors. If you can I suggest you give it a try. |
I'm interested in this too. I close on 9/25. See you soon!
