Has anyone had experience with these inspections? I assume the homeowner would have to pay for them. Does anyone have any idea of the cost?

Or is this just a threat to get us to accept Slide’s coverage, which isn’t as good as Farmers’ was?

why don’t you call around and see for yourself instead of listening to your agent

Not sure if you are saying you are currently with Slide or considering going with them. But we just started with them and I am really happy with their service and coverage. Time will talk I guess but so far it’s been easy and professional interactions through the process.

Tim Bascom Allstate is my go to for my insurance quotes. 352-561-7059. At the recording ask for agent. Good luck. They both help all my clients

We changed companies. They sent someone out to walk around our house and take pictures. No expense to us,

KIN required the inspection for my 15 year old house with original roof. Target did the inspection for about $100 and they were excellent. There were no issues found and Isaved $1300 over the Allstate renewel.

I had the 4 point test done at a cost of $70.00 in order to get insurance with State Farm. I too was dropped by Farmers. Spent the last few weeks looking for something that was affordable and also a company that had a good reputation.

We’ve been in TV for 4 years and had to buy new homeowners every year. This was due to rate increases and a cancellation by one after being with them for 30 days. All asked for wind mitigation inspection that I had done when we bought the house. Only 1 asked for the 4 point inspection. The inspection was $100. We started with Slide last year and they actually reduced my rate for our upcoming renewal in September. Shocked me! I can’t say anything bad about Slide but I have not made a claim. We keep our deductible at $5K. Our attorney advised us to set it at it where I could afford to pay out of pocket. Any small claim will make you uninsurable or send your rates through the roof. Good Luck.

I got a wind mitigation letter with my new roof, and had to provide the building permit and final permit inspection to prove my house was constructed after the Miami-Dade standard was adopted statewide. Tower Hill Insurance Exchange then did their own inspection of the lot and foundation for drainage and condition.

How much was the discount?

Their recommendation was the cheapest. State Farm wouldn’t even talk to us if our roof was older than 2021 new codes.

The Villages Insurance sent me two quotes. One was for more than $4000, because my water heater, in the garage, on a plumbed drainage pan, was too old. The other was for about $2300. Both from firms that had terrible ratings with BBB.

If your home was built in 2002 or later, there are automatic wind mitigation credits. If you installed impact windows or have shutters and all your openings are impact rated, you’d need the wind mitigation to obtain an opening protection credit. I’m an agent and would be happy to provide a quote. Please feel free to contact me 954-437-9220 ext. 308 or hrichardson4@allstate.com.

My house is 17 years old and State Farm required the inspection.

We just bought a home in The Villages this month and had Grant Inspections go over it for us. We had the 4 point inspection as well as the wind mitigation inspection done. They were very thorough and even took lots of pictures.
We were given a credit on our home insurance of $833 for wind mitigation.

We've been considering moving to TV. The entire discussion around homeowner insurance, not only in TV but throughout Florida, is concerning. Florida state government needs to get its insurance regulatory agencies up to speed. Last winter we rented a home in the historical district. The home was purchased several months earlier, and the new owners had it in very nice condition. We very much enjoyed our stay. During conversations with the owner, he revealed that he could not get fire insurance, I assume he paid cash for the house. Even if I thought I could afford to lose my entire purchase price, I don't think I could pull that trigger.

Time to get a new insurance agent.
