Default Bad Balls

We've been TVrs in Gilchrist for a year now. Done most of the things around here except golf. Ran out of excuses, so we decided to take the cart and our clubs - unused for 5-8 years - and go to the driving range (Sarasota).

Bucket of balls 45=$5. OK...

During the next half hour or so alternating our shots we must have had 35 of the balls either dribble up off the tee, veer horribly left or right, not get 2' off the ground rolling, and a few early on that jumped off the tee...missing them. Only about 10 balls seemed OK.
Thought it may be us, but we did notice some other people ran into bad balls too. Some even yelled at them.
When done, I brought it to the attention of the attendant, but he just laughed. Not good for customer relations.

So we decided to go into the pro shop. Was gonna report the guy, but we decided to sign up for lessons, just to see if their balls were better.

Have any other TVrs run into this problem???

I did have this problem about 63 years ago, then the balls started to improve. When I was in my thirties, I hardly ever got a bad ball. Over the years, bad balls seem to have become more common. Now that I am 70, I notice that I am getting a lot of limited distance balls and quite a few that don't putt right.

Yep, me too. I noticed an interesting banner on a golf cart last month that certainly makes sense at our age." You need to have a lot of "balls" to golf like I do".

I noticed that too. Some of my bad balls slice to the left and some hook to the right. I alway throw them away and only keep the ones that go straight. I go through about 3 dozen balls a week. They don't make them like they used to.

I have a blue cloth sign like that on the lower windshield of my cart. It also says "Hole in One Club". A good friend made it for me after my first ace here. She has a special attachment for her sewing machine.

It seems like half the balls I buy have a "sand seeker" built into them, and the other half have a "water seeker" in them. Maybe I should stick to miniature golf.

Default Bad is good

Yeah, but those bad balls at Sarasota float. I wish the ones I play with on the course did that.

AH now I see why I avoid the golf courses... I am going to get a T shirt that says

"if you see me on a golf course.....RUN!!" and "if you see me with a driver in my hands, run faster!!"

I firmly believe that I cannot carry enough insurance for me to golf, hook, slice, and few shots I could not name.

I will stick to bowling, much safer for all.

There was sign in the squares, "I hit a couple of balls, by stepping on a rake".

Ouch, that is funny, but hurts just thinking about it.

Maybe you golfers should do like Arnold Palmer did and have your wife kiss your balls before you held out to the course. Seemed to work for him.

There is a story from some time ago that Arnold Palmer's wife was on the Groucho Marx show; Groucho asked her what she did for Arnie before every tournament, her reply was "I kiss his balls", to which Groucho replied "I bet that makes his putter stutter" and they supposedly sued Groucho. Don't know how true the story is.
