First let me state I am not a resident, I'm a wanna be.

While I am on record opposing the general public being able to come in and use TV amenities, renters using amenities are a another thing.

When you rent real estate you are renting some of the rights of the owner. The use of the amenites is one of those rights you rent.

We may not be able to sell our house "up North" for several years as it is beyond the price range most people are buying these days, and we're not going to give it away just to move it, so we may rent in TV for those several years.

I would hope we would get all the benefits normally enjoyed by the owner and I would hope to be a friend to, and be befriended by, the residents of TV.

TV is not a self-contained, private, gated, exclusive community. If you want that kind of living, you gotta pony up lots more $$.

This reminds me of the old Doublement gum commercial; The Villages is two... two... two places in one. It clearly has features of a resort for a short term visitor... and, in each little Village we have our own little community. E-gads.... could that really be THE BEST of both worlds??? Yep!!!!!!!!

I guess I am the only one that didn't think Collette meant her post to be negative. She was just airing her view.

Sometimes, although rarely, listening to all of your responses, renters are not quite as involved as homeowners.

I think I would not like it if I were a full timer surrounded by seasonal renters.

How many businesses could survive on just full time residents and snowbirds?. Renters contribute quiet alot to the businesses in The Villages and surrounding areas.

As a full time yearly renter here, I take exception to the notion we are somehow second class citizens. The fact that the property owner pays some of the fees associated with home ownership is something between he and the renter. That amount is negotiated at the time of lease signing. I would guess that many homes are supported by long and short term renters, thus enabling the owner to support both homes while awiting sale of one. That I chose to invest my money in other places than real estate is my business. I spend my money here like anyone else and am happy to do so. I am not a snow bird or snow flake, just a person looking to live life as anyone else. I can see that there are other "frogs" like me being happy in day to day life.
