Default Return Shipments to Amazon, etc

I had to return an item to Amazon. They emailed me a postage paid label for UPS. The box would not fit in a UPS drop box so I brought it to the shipping business near Publix at Southern Trace. They wanted to charge me $1 to drop the free shipping box off. So I went across the street (101) to Village Pack and Ship Too. No drop off charge.

I love Amazon because of their returns. When I print a label, it is for USPS. As soon as it is scanned at the post office, I get my credit.

That's because the place you went to (probably Safe Ship) is not an authorized UPS outlet and doesn't get regular pickups. They have to call for a 1 time pickup. UPS likely charges THEM for pickups. SafeShip is a Fedex Authorized center. Village Pack and Ship is a UPS authorized center and UPS pays THEM for each prepaid dropoff. Same way for a The UPS Store, they (when I managed one) got paid $1.25 per UPS prepaid package dropped off to handle UPS dropoffs. People would bring us prepaid FEDEX packages and they would be charged $2 because Fedex charged us $10 per daily pickup.

Love the Amazon return poli y. They do let you choose whether to,use ups or usps and we just print out the label or have them send us one.

I was happy to pay the $1 which saved me driving to the other store. I was told the $1 was for the driver who takes it from one store to the other.

I was shipped a broken flat screen TV from Amazon.
Got the UPS shipping label, called UPS, and they picked it up at my door. No charge.

They charge $1 for UPS because it goes to the kid that takes the boxes to the the UPS drop off. They are a Fed ex store but also USPS store. Just pick a USPS label for returns and it is free.

I've dropped off many Amazon UPS returns at the UPS store in Pinellas Plaza on 466A. No charge.

I'm guessing that if they charge a drop off fee they are violating their franchise agreement. In georgia Ive dropped off USPS packages without any problems or costs ..

I’m surprised there are no Amazon lockers in TV. Back home there are several and not just the Whole Foods. One of the convenience gas stations has one on the side of the building.

Agree. The Pinellas folks are very customer oriented. I make sure I use them when I have a package that does require a fee, too.

I always pick USPS, print the label, tape to box and then go to my neighborhood postal station, knock on the door and give it to them. Easy Peasy.
