The biker was lucky he tried that move with an unarmed Villager. If I had seen him pull his weapon and point it at my car, He'd have had a .40cal round coming his way.........

I hope that, in time, the details of what happened leading up to the incident, comes out. CR466 near Rolling Acres Rd. is a 4 lane road. If all that was involved was the desire for the motorcyclists to pass, they could easily have gone around the other vehicle, without a confrontation. It is likely that something provocative that hasn't been reported, yet, preceded the incident. Of course, regardless of what did precede the incident, the motorcyclist's action was not justified.

My understanding from the Village News report: no one was hurt...shot at the car and a tire. Lives in the Culmet Grove area. What's going on....are people going crazy. Some one beeps his horn at you and you retaliate with gun fire! Thought all the crazies lived outside the bubble!

That is being rather naive.

All we need is a gunfight on CR 466. :ohdear:
This kind of thinking scares me more than 20 people having sex in public.

Man Murders Wife Two Weeks After Using Power Saw On Her Harley

DUMONT, N.J. – When 54-year-old Debra Shanley did not show up to meet with the local Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) for a Sunday morning ride, friends became worried. When she did not respond to phone calls or text messages, they called police. They had reasons to be concerned as she had told them that she wanted out of her 35-year marriage to 58-year-old Peter Shanley and he was not too pleased with that or her new interests. Debra, Dumont Board of Education member and Bergenfield High School teacher, had recently fulfilled a lifelong dream in the form of a a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Peter did not share Debra’s dream and destroyed the motorcycle with a power saw two weeks ago. When police arrived at the couple’s home on Sunday they found Peter Shanley conscious and on a bedroom floor with a laceration to the neck and a broken ankle. Debra was laying dead on the floor of another bedroom. She had been bludgeoned and stabbed to death. Pete was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and later charged with murder.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Kind of a sad story when you think about it. Especially if you read the entire article I linked to. The couple seemed nice, and even Peter’s neighbors and employer have nothing but nice things to say about him. You get the feeling that he saw the writing on the wall and at 58, did not want to start a life alone – especially seeing as Debra was out and making new friends. An interesting thing I picked up on while reading the article was the account of her last day.

It states that Debra had gone on a group ride that Saturday with a John Bibas. They went to dinner with two other bikers that night. Bibas states that hen went home to Oakland after eating and that Debra stayed out to get dessert. He then goes on to answer the logical question that immediately formed in my head when I read that, saying Debra was not romantically involved with any member of the motorcycle club. If she was or wasn’t doesn’t really matter at this point as I am guessing that Peter had grown suspicious and wasn’t happy with the direction their decades long marriage was headed. And did something heinous as a result.

Kinda sad really. When the other half read me the incident in the newspaper this morning I was amazed ............ now on reading a bit more about him, I think he is rather a sad guy. He's fast approaching 70, enjoys being in the news, is a policeman wannabe, even has his picture taken in a golf shirt with a sheriff's emblem of some sort ............ He's having a real difficult time facing reality.

My take - I'm sure others will disagree with me and that is your right!

Tell me it ain't so! I come to The Villages every winter for 3 months to get away from the cold weather, and away from the "third world" enviroment where I live. Now, I am reading about stories in The Villages that imply to me that The Villages may have glimpses of the real world!

They won't survive long doing that kind of thing here considering the average age and reflex time, in addition to hard-nosed attitude, of many Villagers. When he gets wiped out, it will be improving the gene pool. There are too many good and generous bikers to let this idiot ruin the reputation of bikers in general. Many have had intensive safety training and are very aware that they are vulnerable.

Ditto that!

Villager arrested in road rage shooting
Millard K. Ives | Staff Writer

A 67-year-old Villages motorcyclist was arrested Thursday after he allegedly blocked in a vehicle with help of a fellow motorcyclist and then fired shots into the car during a road rage incident, according to Lady Lake police.

John Augustine Bibas, whose mugshot show tattoos of a sword with a bloody tip and a skeleton holding an axe, was charged with shooting into or throwing deadly missiles. He was released from the Lake County jail after posting a $10,000.

According to an arrest affidavit, Bibas and another motorcycle were traveling being the car headed east on County Road 466 in Lady Lake. The driver told police that Bibas kept tailgating him while trying to pass.

At some point, the motorcyclist rode on the center divider and cut between the victim’s car and another vehicle and then passed him as the other motorcycle stayed behind.

The report adds that Bibas then suddenly put on his brakes in front of the car, causing it also to stop. Then the other motorcyclist then allegedly pulled up behind the car, which prevented the victim from backing up.

The victim told police he began to honk -- only for Bilas to pull out a gun and shoot the car.

The victim added he was able to turn his wheel hard and drive off and to the Recreation Plantation RV Resort where he called police.

Police said they spotted what appeared to be two bullet holes in the car and officers later found Bilas on Lake Ella Road and arrested him.

I have to admit that I don't feel any sympathy for him. He just sounds like a selfish and arrogant criminal.
