My grammar blows and I make mistakes typing all the time. I guess I just can't understand how a larceny can be confused with a Robbery. It's mind boggling. There is enough stuff in the Villages that gets over exaggerated, not trying to be a pain, just thought I could help put things in perspective. People "correct" people on here all the time. It's not a big deal.

I'm just wading in without reading all the posts. If I saw a theft like this, I'd ride on the bumper till the law came.

Parker, I can relate to that. Fireboy is a busy garage guy also. He is usually working on his hobby, E Flyer planes, and our garage door is constantly left open. And so is the door from the garage to the house. And we may be out back in the birdcage having a cool drink.

This thread is a good thread reminder that a little more caution would be a good thing.

Barefoot,

For that reason we have installed a roll-up garage screen. Reduces the heat, and allows me to work in there. I can see out, but others cannot see in. When you get back, I'll show Rick.

He came home today telling me of a man who was put in jail for 27 months, $3,000 in fine plus restitution, for breaking into two homes in The Villages, while the people were home.

I never saw this mentioned in TOTV or in Sun Times. Hubby says if you want to know about the crime in The Villages, and there is plenty, go to court and where it's actually being tried.

We will be getting an alarm system!

I agree that an alarm system would give you some peace of mind.
It's on my list.

Sorry that your husband had to go through everything mentioned above, but I am grateful for your posting it.

I would think that such incidents should definitely be in the local newspaper. If not, it just gives people a false sense of security. Our daily morning paper always has all of the court news.........the good, the bad and the ugly. As I've been saying, times have certainly changed during the past 43 years as far as crime in our town.

Residents have a right to know. No matter where they live.

Thanks Buzzy, sounds like a great idea. Can it be locked?

Well, no. A burglar could just cut through it. But until they do, they wouldn't know what is behind the screen.
