All I can do is shake my head again & think , some contractors got another slow minded senior citizen. I’m not picking on the home owner either. Home owners pay big money bucks to have a trouble free home for years!

Go to the hardware and pick up a product called “Wet & Forget.” Works great on roofs, landscaping stones and anything else with mold or discoloration. Just hook to hose and spray. Safe for yards & plants.

Re: wet and forget
I've heard about the product actually the name. Thanks to your post, I looked for reviews on the internet, cost etc. To be frank everything I found seems to be company posted advertising.

You say,"hook to the hose and spray." Am I wrong? It looks like you buy a gallon of concentrate at like $27.00. You dilute that 2 to 1 with water so you now have three gallons. You then apply it with a pump garden sprayer. Then you allow rain to wash it off. Seems to do the roof you need to climb on the roof. To do my drive, three car drive
would require at a minimum two gallons of the concentrate and more than one. application.

I have used muriatic acid in the past on the drive. It works well. Not the safest stuff to mess with.
and a lot of work

Unbelievable/unconscionable. A warranty should be for the house, not just the original owner. Makes no sense. :ohdear:

Hardly unbelievable, loss of warranties to subsequent owners has been going on for decades. If you have your lanai enclosed by CVS or any of the popular companies that do that you as the original owner get a lifetime warranty if you sell your home the warranty is gone. Many of the features in new homes have the same warranty along with power equipment, hardscape, driveways, etc. This is why everyone should use a reputable inspection service not only when buying a used home but also for the 1 year inspection. On newer homes however the warranty department should be able to give some help.

That stuff is highly toxic. I order 4 gallons, read the warnings and gave it away.

I have never used the exterior Wet and Forget, but I did buy the interior type for showers at Home Depot. It was a total waste of money. It didn't clean the shower any better than the daily cleaner stuff you spray on every day.

Folks, As The Solar Guys and others have correctly stated, This is clearly a Tamco issue. Tar oozing from under the shingles in valley areas is from a defect in Tamco's underlayment. Mostly seen in homes 3-5 years old. This issue rarely presents itself until after the home is 3-5 years old, although on a few rare occasions we have found it a few years back within the first year, but not often. It takes awhile for the issue to be noticeable.

So far Tamco has paid for replacement roofs. Make sure you go with a quality roofing company and make sure they either use the original dryer roof vent hoods or install CORRECT new ones. THIS has been an issue with some replacement roofs.

Roof mold is an entirely different issue.

Frank D.

We own one of the many homes in Pine Hills/Pine Ridge that was affected by the TAMKO defective underlayment product. We submitted our claim to TAMKO and they paid for us to have the roof replaced. However, please pay attention to what Solar Guys and D'Angelo Inpections are saying, because they speak the truth. It is up to you to choose the contractor for your replacement roof. Unfortunately, we didn't make a wise choice of roofing contractor, and wound up, like many of our neighbors, with roof vents that were not reconnected to our dryer and/or cooking ventilation, because of shoddy workmanship. Fortunately, we hired Frank D'Angelo and his firm to do a post-installation inspection, and they pointed out these deficiencies that would have gone unnoticed. They eventually might have caused a fire! Do your research before hiring a roofing contractor. And if you see the black tar-like substance oozing from your roof, contact TAMKO to submit a claim.

Great stuff. I had someone use a version of the stuff for my main house roof. It takes about 6 months but completely removed all the lichens and moss and all of the black streaks. It has been four years and it is still all gone. I didn't rinse off the bushes and trees next to the house and some of them lost their leaves till next year but none died. I bought the store spray and forget concentrate and used it in a garden sprayer for my garage since it is 300 feet from the house and there is no water out there. The north end siding was all green with mold. That was last year and it is all gone this year. I recommend the stuff!
