Thanks. I now understand where the bridges will be.

Thanks for the photo. How long were you able to stop to take the pics and video?

I got down there around 8:55 p.m. walked down 44 from the cattle statues and was able to watch from about 30 feet standing on 44 until I left around 9:35

champion 6, Another thank you for posting this map!

Looks like it's going to be a good climb up to that bridge. It's really high and the "Villages" logo is huge!

The second Turnpike bridge will be built a few miles to the south near the Okahumpka Service Plaza. This pathway will connect both golf cart and vehicle traffic to future areas, including land recently acquired in Leesburg.

The southern Turnpike bridge will be constructed of traditional concrete to support both golf carts and vehicles.

Where can I locate maps of bridges?

Chase219 08-26-2019 05:22 AM

Having the bridge in place finally is great but lets get it finished been 1 1/2 years in Fenney and still no access to get to the squares ,stores ect. and now they are saying another year, but another 5 new villages were built after Fenney and are up and running , houses for sale and home sites ,how about finishing the bridges first, these should have been Top Priority , you would think, don't get me wrong the Villages is a great place to live but we need access out of this end and should not have to wait Two years at our age we may not have two years...

Heard from reliable source that bridges over turnpike will not be built until enough homes are sold south and east of turnpike are sold. Maybe in two more years.

dennisgavin 08-26-2019 07:32 AM

Is it "open". I think not but......

Care to tell who the "reliable" source is?

Nonsense. Have you seen how many houses are already built and occupied in Southern Oaks?

The first bridge over the turnpike is almost completely constructed and, given the timeline of the 44 bridge construction and placement, will likely be in place in the next 60-90 days. Then it’s just a matter of building the approaches and paving the trails.

The Bexley concrete bridge was constructed in the 60s for the farm land on either side, when the turnpike was built.
I'm sure it will be rehabbed before use.

Is this new information?
I may have missed it previously.

Don Wiley posted a video of the first Turnpike bridge in progress a few weeks ago, I suspect the steel is close to complete by now.

Disclosed here almost a year ago.

Life in The Villages

Satellite photos from about a year ago show a lot of "moving dirt", golf course, roads and infrastructure prep work in progress north of the Turnpike in that area so I suspect (hope) it will happen sooner than later.

Fyi - I discovered these photo's via the Sumpter County web site so suspect they were funded by the county. They cover most of the Southern Oaks area east of Fenny to north of the Turnpike.

So is the Bexley and Bailey Bridge the same bridge?

I'm not sure now.
The Bailey bridge doesn't look wide enough for cars and carts.
Maybe a new concrete bridge will be built called the Bexley bridge?

That is true. If that bothers you, move somewhere else like many others in Fenney have decided to do.

Maybe that is why there are 25 re-sales in Fenney, more than any other village.

Or someone died, smaller/bigger house, more garage, better view. We have moved 3 times because of the house/ garage.

Every new villages has this happen, robust sales and then a year or two later a spike in resales, some are moving because too big, some too small, some buyers remorse, some decided they miss their old home, any number of reasons.

Don't believe "reliable sources" that say anything different than what The Villages officially puts out. Most are unreliable and either guessing or wishful thinking. Think about all the timelines The Villages has missed, I've been here 5 years and the number is easy to count, 0.

Bailey Bridge is being renamed Bexley and additional width by either another span or widening of the current to accommodate both car and cart traffic.

No rush to get it done at this point because work on the south/west side of the turnpike below Monarch Grove hasn't even be permitted yet. I give it 2 years for this one, minimum.

Unfortunately not. Spent about 8 hours in the lake and had a diver for 3 hours in the water today also, no luck.

No video this week as I was preoccupied.

Altavia 08-26-2019 08:43 PM

Local dive shops/clubs might know someone with an underwater drone?
