Golf Cart HOG....hmmmmn. Probably just a friendly welcome to a newcomer from the Golf Cart Harley Owners Group.
|
I Would beware of any self appointed vigilante. A normal person would have paid no attention or at the most left a note saying PLEASE HELP US GET MORE PARKIN BY SHARING PARKING SPOTS WITH ONE MORE CART. THANK YOU.
Saying CART HOG is assuming and aggressive. What is Vigilante Justice? |

Besides, it's not Golf Cart Hog; it's Parking Space Hog. They can't even get their rude right.:ohdear:

It's amazing how people forget what it's like to be "new", or a visitor who hasn't caught onto the usual and customary practices. They will pick up on it soon enough, or some nicer person will point out how it would be helpful to others to share the space (We're all assuming that was the problem.) Also....sometimes there is a reason for taking a whole space. We have a lot of residents who use canes and walkers, etc. and perhaps need a little extra room. My husband is in a foot boot right now, and it helps him to not be crowded. LOTS of reasons people do what they do and it's nobody's business, unless it is against the law.
Anyone who would leave such a note probably needs anger management classes. Having said.....I see plenty of angry people here in "FL's friendliest hometown". |
good info

We can't change ourselves completely and we can't change what we have been taught, our word usage and what we think is our business. We are going to face again soon a large surge of population where there will be people handling things much differently than the way we grew up.
There will be people standing in the middle of the aisle at grocery stores with no thought to the fact they are blocking. There will be people in droves going to the squares and saving chairs. There will be people with much less driving experience than most of us driving cars and golf carts. There will be people stepping in front of us in line and even saying that they always sit in the front pew in church! The quiet ones will simmer and the vocal ones will vocalize and the place here will get a lot more interesting and a good deal more frustrating. Hang on Snoopy. |

Even without the signal on, drivers of any vehicle on the streets should know that a car stopped just ahead of an empty parking spot is going to back into it to park. Then a thinking person would stay back and give them room!! |

And soon you'll be helping other drivers that are lost. That's when you'll know you're a True Villager! |
The card said Golf Cart Hog at the top, then under that was a pic of a hog sitting in a golf cart.
Written under that pic "Every Automobile Space Fits TWO (2) Golf Carts" |

I hope these folks will be able to laugh it off as the very rare Villages grump and it didn't taint their visit too much. |

If not, they are not subject to this discussion. It has nothing to do with owning or not owning a car. |

And then there is the unique use of parking spaces here in TV for both cars and golf carts. I admit I should have left parallel parking out of it. The point is, golf cart drivers are not always licensed car drivers. |
Darn, now I have to order new cards. :) I agree with the other posters that an explanation of the rules gives out the same message and also provides an explanation of the rules, in a more gentler manner.

... and for those that have never heard that term before "This phrase means that breeding will come out, become apparent, over time. That is, it cannot be hidden forever, even if a person tries to hide it. A person who has been taught good ethics, morals, manners, etc., will demonstrate that training subconsciously, and other people will notice it." This person has obviously never been taught how to behave in a civilized manner showing respect to others. |

No one has a right to tell anyone how to park but we all should care that there aren't that many parking spaces and we really should share. We don't live here alone. Easy now. |
Just be thankful this is the worst thing you have to be upset or worry about...it's a whole different world outside the bubble.

You know what else? The person who left the rude comments on the golf cart bet it was a cop because he was unable to issue a ticket:D |

Unreal .... ! Some of you folks need to lighten up! You're gonna bust a gut..... Common sense does not need to be a law!!!

It does take all kinds....
This was witnessed by a friend who afterward told me the story:
A man was driving out of the Walgreen’s parking lot when another car parked in nose first started backing out. Evidently he didn’t see the first car that was leaving and consequently plowed the rear of his car into the side of the other. The woman in the passenger seat of the car that had backed into the other car jumped out of the car and started screaming at the driver of the other car, who had been leaving the parking lot, to the effect of what right did he have to be there just at the moment that her husband was backing out. The driver of the car that was hit, listening to this woman and seeming to accept that she was a completely unreasonable “loose cannon,” said nothing to her but instead pulled out his mobile phone and called 911 for a deputy sheriff. The woman’s husband said nothing. When the deputy sheriff arrived, the woman was still screaming. The sheriff then turned to my friend and the other man standing there and asked if they had been witnesses to the incident. Both said yes, both agreed to the account of the other driver who had been innocently leaving Walgreen’s when the side of his car was plowed into, and both said they would be willing to serve as witnesses. The second man then added that he was the retired chief of police of a small city in Illinois. At this point the sheriff thanked my friend and told him that he wouldn’t be needed, so he left; hence, that’s all I know of the story. It does indeed take all kinds…. |

Funny video. No animals were hurt.

Lighten up gang...it was a nasty note by a nasty person, rude but not worth all the lather. Yes we should be considerate. You can no more dictate how everybody parks than you can tell them how to drive. |

My husband was on line at Publix. A man started ranting and raving about The Villages stealing all his money. Hey we live in an adult community with a lot of people who are on the verge of dementia. Have some compassion. Not everybody is walking around in a dream bubble.

Here's the clincher: There are usually all kinds of spaces farther away. |

If we show the skills that we have learned by living longer than the rest of the population and throw in some much needed patience we will get through the parking mess soon approaching. I will do my share by staying away from the squares, but I still have to go to Publix. |
Anyone who would actually have "golf cart hog" cards printed up to put on golf carts must be in the early stages of dementia.....or perhaps they were just born rude.
|
I couldn't get into my car at Brownwood the other day because a golf cart parked literally 6" from my drivers side door. They were across the white line into my parking space and they pulled right up.
I was quite frustrated, but I didn't have a golf cart hog card. Darn! |

oh, look how chatty I am today, this is my 4th post in an hour. I'll take a break now on my opinions....I'll go spout off on facebook now.

Although I hate when people say this, I can see both sides. Lol
I've never been to TV but I'm looking to it and a visit. I had no idea about the parking until I read this, believe me I'll be paranoid about it now and if that was my first hello I wouldn't be back. I'd be thinking friendliest my patoot. I don't think the card described is atrocious once it was fully described. Maybe it was meant as a reminder, or even a first time this is parking space, unnecessary probably yes. It's just a parking space there's more in life to get upset about, but to me anyway, not a life stopping horrendous event. But maybe it seems small to me because I currently live in CNY and regularly see parking spaces designated for "green" cars and see them filled with huge SUVs or PIck up trucks and its not enforced. Why have them? And who parks there? To me that's incredibly rude and also breaking the law. |
