Rules of The Villages

Is there a manual that sets down in writing "rules" for living in The Villages?

For instance, pedestrians on non-golf course cart paths? Is walking allowed on those paths? Say someone wanted to walk from their home to SS or LSL and back, where would they be allowed to walk? TV has no sidewalks except for the town squares, right?

What about foot traffic on the bridge to the historic section? Allowed, or not?

Inquiring wannabe minds want to know...

All of the streets and roads, including the golf cart paths and the bridge across the main road, are multi-use paths. I walk around on the golf cart paths and streets, but never across the bridge. However there is a sign near the entrance to the bridge designating it multi-use as well.

No non golfing pedestrians on the golf courses, even at night.

Those are what we refer to as "golf cart paths". "Multi-modal" means that golf carts, pedestrians, bicyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, even Segways have an EQUAL right to use the multi-modal paths in The Villages. That includes the bridge over US 27/441.

Beyond the equal right to the use of the paths comes the common sense and courtesy of when to give way. While pedestrians walking two abreast have as much right use th paths as a golf cart, it just makes common sense that pedestrians give way to faster and bigger vehicles. They don't have to -- but if they didn't, the whole personality of TV would change.

Dirigo... we do have sidewalks in many places other than the town squares. Many residential areas south of 466 have sidewalks on one side of the streets.

We "walk the streets" in Hadley, no sidewalks here, and although there is now minimum construction traffic,and moving trucks, being a new village, (that waned a few months ago), now we have a lot of traffic from upgrading of landscaping and trucks delivering furniture etc. but not so bad you can't safely walk in the streets. People pass by constantly. We love sitting on our front porch and waving at walkers and golfcarters and bicyclists.

Three boys on skateboards zoomed by a couple of days ago. I gave a double take. Funny how quickly you forget what kids do. They must have been having a great time visiting their grandparents!

Paths on the golf courses are not "Multi Modal". They are for golfers (carts) only. Walking golfers may use them but they are not for jogging, biking or walking your dog, at anytime of day or night.

Here is another question. What is involved with registering a guest who will be staying with you for a few days? Is there any cost? Does this guest registration get them onto all the golf courses, including the championship courses, or just the executive courses. I assume guests pay the guest rate at all the courses?

You go to any recreation center and they will issue you a guest card. I know that your guests will have to pay on championship courses. I expect they pay on executive courses too.
